Bridge radius?

My understanding is that the Floyd locking nuts are a 10" radius, but the bridge itself isn't dedicated. You put shims under the saddles to achieve the radius you want at that end. Most properly designed bridges have saddle height adjustment screws, but either way it's a setup issue. If you have a compound radius neck, then it flattens out as it moves toward the bridge, so the radius there will be much larger than it is at the nut. Picture a cone with a few degrees taken out as a slice for a fretboard surface. That's probably why your middle strings seem (or are) high. Have someone explain how to shim that bridge, or take it to a shop and throw $20 at it to have it done. It'll make you happier because you'll stop tripping over strings.

I'm capable of shimming the Floyd myself. I just haven't decided yet if I want to. I am wondering if I should shim the high and low E strings, and then lower the whole bridge.
