Black Korina, Alpine White, Natural Binding

That sucks major dude. I think it's better to push the studs in. I would definitely try and fill that. How deep is the crack? Right off the top of my head I thought to tell you to use wood filler. But it would be hard to get it in there. I'd try an see if you can get wood glue and maybe you could get gravity to pull it down into the crack...

Well, I've put studs in before and a little tight is better than a little loose. They just didn't feel that tight. I was just tapping it down with the rubber hammer to get it flush. Dammit! I knew I should have paid the 10 bucks and had them install the studs.

Man that's a cool looking strat Mully, the crack is a total bummer, I'd get some Gorilla wood glue and a couple of small wood screws . Fill the crack with glue then use the screws to pull it together..

The other pix I took of the plate were blurry, but it's bee in your hands shortly to take a snap of... :laughing7:

That fretboard is killer, and Warmoth's satin finish will shine up after some use, I have a satin finish on my VW and it's shinning up around the edges where my arm touches the body.. :icon_thumright:

After looking at the crack again, looks to me as if the crack was already there. You can see it in the portion that I have circled in red is a pre-existing crack in the wood. This should have been caught by QC. The rest of the crack was just inevitable, any stress in that area would have caused it to do as it did...

I was thinking the exact same thing. I guess I didn't look as close as I should have. Meh, either way. I'll take your advice of the Gorilla snot and the wood screws and bring her back together.

that neck plate is going to finish this off nicely

I took this with me to a live show tonight to show it to some friends. One of the guys was checking out the crack and his response was "This didn't happen from putting those studs in, that crack was there, the stud probably just opened it up more."

Oh well, he doesn't seem to think it will be a problem.

Maybe some water-consistency superglue will do the trick, some kind of thin glue. Bummer, but it doesn't look all that bad.

i can't get over the grain in that neck. it's like it was totally supposed to be there, like a really cool inlay or something! i love it.

anyway, that crack is a little disappointing, but as long as it doesn't show or affect playability.

Hey man, if there was a crack in it even before you put the studs in you might be able to return it?

Yeah, no way to prove it. I admittedly didn't notice if there was a crack or not. Even if there was, since I put the studs in they wouldn't accept it I don't think.

Some of the thin super glue like:

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Glues,_adhesives/Stewart-MacDonald_Super_Glues/Super_Glue.html

in a syringe could do the trick.

Crack aside (...hmm ...) it still is going to be an awesome looking guitar.

I love this guitar concept (except the pickguard, but that's okay) and I'm sorry about the crack mishap.... but just be glad that it only appeared in the trem cavity!

No worries, I'm not overly thrilled with the pick guard either, my wife chose it. I looked at it like this, instead of going off her nut and screaming "WHY ARE YOU BUYING ANOTHER GUITAR?!?!?!" she sat here next to me and said "Oh, I like that one." I figured a concession was in order.

for now at least

Dude, there's paint inside the crack.  That's all the proof you need.

But it if you're happy with it, then just glue it up and rock out!

I wouldn't normally be a fan of a pickguard like that either, but I think that it works really well against that body and neck. Very glam (in a good way)!

Yeah, it's not bad, matter of fact it does look good, but personally, I would have preferred tortoise.

I'm only going to respond by saying that I have somewhat of a tortoise shell fetish.  :help:

You know, for years and years I've wanted to buy a USA Fender Strat, white with an ebony fingerboard and a tortoise shell scratch plate. Then, many moons ago, when I discovered Warmoth I thought I'd be able to make one for myself. When I finally got the balls to go forward with a build I ended up getting a killer cherry sunburst, BE maple neck, and a white pearl scratch plate. That was another of my dream guitars. This time around, I got pretty damn close but didn't hit the nail right on the head. The natural binding on this was a total after thought. I was searching through the Alpine white bodies and when I saw that I got interested in it. I never considered a solid color with natural binding. Then my wife liked the vintage pearl so I went with that combination. So, you see, my dream guitar is still out there. I need to have a solid white Strat with a jet black fingerboard, MOP position markers, and a tortoise shell scratch plate. I guess one more build is in my future.

at the very least 1 more because I'd still like an LP :headbang1:
