Are there any electric 12 string players here? What strings are you using?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with Pyramid's sets, but would like to hear about whatever you use.

I'm an old electric 12 player.  Started on a rickenbacker 360/12 and moved to a Warmoth/Fender XII.  Been playing the instrument for 10+ years.

On the Rick I used the rick strings, which are a big part of the sound.  They are compressed wound and only available on the Rickenbacker website.

On the Warmoth/Fender XII I use the D'Addario electric 12 set (EXL150).  I get these from Strings and Beyond - they have some pretty good prices (and they ship to canada without declaring the contents so we skip the duty and taxes). 

Sadly I have not tried the pyramid strings.  At $31+bucks a set they are too rich for my blood.

$31 a set? Stringsbymail.com has Pyramid hand wound nickel electric 12 string sets (9-42 or 10-46) for $13.49. Do they make another more expensive set? I used to make up custom sets from individual Thomastik-Infeld strings. Now THAT got to be expensive - but boy did they sound great.

EDIT: I wonder who makes Rickenbacker's 12 string sets. I'm pretty sure they don't make them themselves - string making is a pretty involved proposition, and OEM repackaging is common.

I've just had a curious look at this

and they appear to be implying that Rickenbacker have changed their suppliers

I assumed as soon as you said 'Pyramid' you implied 'Gold' 

yea I had heard that Rick had changed string suppliers - I suspect that happened a decade or so ago.  I think I've been using the 'new' ones

Kind of late on chiming in but I use a D'Addario EXL150 light Nickel wound 10-46 set on my Dean Boca 12.

They seem to hold up well to my playing and they sound nice. With a six saddle TOM on this git, the intonation is not perfect, but close enough for me. Maybe that's why it seems to have a lot of chime to it.

Another 150 player. I have a lifelong cycle of "Oh man, I just got to have an electric 12 string" and "But I never play it, so sell it".

12 string fanatic here, at one point had 6 electric 12s (and two acoustics). I really like the PRS 12 string set (.010 - .046), good prices through Elderly.com. Needless to say, I buy by the box, call them to inquire prices, they're helpful people. Strings sound great and last well, who likes to change strings on a 12? On a couple vintage axes, I have used SIT 9-46, not that much lighter but different weight ratios.
