Anyone ever ordered from Warmoth just before Christmas?

Hey everyone,

I'm just curious if anyone on here has placed an order about 4-6 weeks before Christmas before. I'm sure it's a busy time of year for the Wood Elves of Warmoth, plus when you factor in employees surely getting good chunks of time off for the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's holidays, it stands to reason that the standard production times might slow down a bit.

I know it takes as long as it takes for Warmoth to produce such quality work, but I am curious if anyone has noticed any significant delays around this time of year. Thanks in advance for any insight you might have!  :rock-on:

I don't know about ordering right now, but I ordered a strat body with metallic finish on 9/13 and I'm still waiting for it.  I received the neck a month ago, but for some reason this body is taking a while.

Wow, that is quite the wait. Although, I recall my Strat taking about 12 weeks to ship... I actually called Warmoth today just to ask of they're busier than usual at this time of year, and the customer service rep said that they're unbelievably slammed right now. I guess this means the typical 4-5 week wait time is probably out the window right now. Oh well... Maybe I'll get a New Year's baby!

Not surprising to me that they're slammed.
4 or 5 reps to cover the entire world's sales orders, with language barriers added to that.

It always feels like x-mas when my Warmoth order arrives. And I mean the Christmas feeling when I was like 6 years old

Ha so true. I get so excited!!

Totally. It's been 4 weeks since I ordered a finished showcase body and build-to-order neck with no inlay and no finish, so under normal circumstances, it would be shipping any day now. Tomorrow is my birthday, so maybe I'll get one of those wonderful shipping notifications tomorrow! At least once it ships, I only have to wait one more day since I live so close to Puyallup.  :blob7:

I seem to blithely order something in December (2nd year in a row now) because my budget allows more for it then and then remember what the rest of the world is doing all month. But I just got a couple things Monday the 23rd, one of which I had ordered custom on Nov 12. The other was showcase. So I think Warmoth does a good job of peddling faster up the December hill. Gotta give them credit for that.

IMHO Warmoth is one of the slowest online retailers I have ever dealt with. Even items that should ship right away take longer than what they say on their timelines.

No biggie. If I may reference the "kid at Christmas" feeling from a post above, this is something we all need. Life goes by way too fast. Anything that can slow it down a bit is OK with me. I plan on keeping one on order for some time. My dog is getting old and I can't lose her yet. :)

Warmoth quality is great and the picks they throw in the orders is a nice touch.

ordered 11/8.  not anticipating for christmas, just a great project for me to do.  ends up being delivered on christmas eve, i thought. NICE!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!!!!!

then some boom-boom stole it off my porch.  Guess no signature required on shipments over 700 bucks

That's awesome, man! Congrats on getting your new project right before the holidays. I placed my order (also a showcase/BTO combination) on Nov. 23rd, so maybe mine will follow a similar production timeline as yours.

Oh my god, man. That's just completely awful. There's gotta be a special place in musical hell reserved just for instrument thieves. Stolen packages are a huge problem in my area of Portland. It seems as though people are following around UPS trucks so they can steal as many as possible. I think I'm going to start having all of my packages held for pickup at the UPS facility or delivered to me at work from now on.

So what happens next for you? I assume UPS is liable for the loss... What had you ordered? Was it anything completely unique and irreplaceable? Even though this is a huge headache and disappointment for you (and now the waiting game has to start all over again), I hope it's at least something that the Wood Elves of Warmoth can faithfully recreate for you.

Yeah, it does seem a little crazy that it takes up to a week just to ship out items that are already in stock and aren't getting any modifications. Still, I freakin' love this company (and the excited little kid feeling that they're still capable of inspiring within me).

Nope. :tard:

Dude....  huge amount of suck.

I recently read an article on on woman who had over $1000 worth of stuff stolen like that, she put a decoy filled with dog dooks, and recorded the dude stealing it, I think the thefts ended shortly there after. :laughing7:

The one thing I do try to do, and my work schedule thankfully is flexible enough to do it.

Once that sucker ships and I know when it's supposed to arrive I put in for that day off.

yes, huge amount of suck.  i wrapped a bullet in an old cigar box and left that out for the taking as well.  we will see what happens

Wow. That's awful.

UPS only covers $100 on shipments unless you buy more insurance, which costs 3% of declared value. I used to insure everything, but total loss is so rare that it doesn't make a lotta sense unless you're shipping something irreplaceable. Usually, if anything is going to happen, it's handling damage. So, you insure for a projected repair. Lot easier to take that way.

If you have homeowners or rental insurance, that'll probably be the better route to take to get satisfaction.

Today I got the body I ordered on 9-13.  So now I've got all the parts for a H-H Sherwood Green Strat with a Floyd and bloodwood/ebony neck.

Wow, is it taking that long for orders to get filled?  I have two bodies, a neck, and some hardware on order.  The bodies were shelf-stock and just needed a few holes drilled.  The neck needed to be fretted, tuner holes drilled, and a nut shelf cut.  No finishes were ordered on either.  It has been almost a month since I ordered.

Perhaps I should send an email tomorrow and ask for an update.  :tard: :sad1:

The theives won't pick up something you put on your front porch, they follow the ups van.  Call your credit card company, most cards (at least mine) have automatic theft protection.  AMEX has $1000.

Man, that is great to hear about them covering your loss!

Sadly, I don't think I will ever order from W again. I find it unacceptable that they accept money for shipping and seemingly just pocket it. They appear to have some agreement with the shippers that the package receives the lowest priority and it arrives later than the target delivery date. I have not received one package on time from them after three orders. This is the only bad thing I can say about W and it saddens me to say it. I have no trouble with any other retailer and their shipping. They seem to want my business and get my package to me in days instead of weeks.

bummer
