New Warmoth body... not a home run.

I hate to be this guy, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this experience recently.
I just received a body I ordered. It was a showcase body, and I had it routed for a non-recessed FR bridge with an angled neck pocket. I ordered a body similar to this some time ago. On that body, there was a very small gap between the edges of the neck and the edges of the neck pocket. I'm assuming from altering the neck pocket. And so, I was expecting the same thing on this one. I have had other showcase bodies where the neck pocket was not altered in any way, and the neck fit in nice and snug. However, the gap on this new body is much greater. On the bass side of the neck, the gap is just about large enough to slip a credit card into. On the treble side of the neck, there is also a small gap. But, it appears the body wasn't routed properly on that side. On the exposed part of the neck pocket, the body is slightly wider than the neck at the back end (furthest from the heel), yet at the heel, the neck is slight wider than the body.
Of course, during the 5 week wait for the body, I had already pre-wired the pickguard, and had all the other parts and hardware on hand, ready to go. And, in the excitement of receiving the body, I just started getting to work. It wasn't until after I had the pickguard mounted, bridge and strap buttons installed, and jack soldered that I mounted the neck, and noticed the issues. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience recently.
And, just so everyone knows, I am not in any way trying to crap on Warmoth here. I have built several guitars over the years with their bodies and necks, and have always been 100% satisfied with the craftmanship of their products, until now. Maybe I just got one that was done at 3:30 on a Friday... I don't know. But, right before this body arrived, I placed two more orders to the tune of $1,400.00. So, I am hoping this isn't typical now.

Warmoth's dimensional tolerances are usually pretty tight - sometimes better than Fender's. Is that a Warmoth neck you're working with? If not, it may not be to exact Fender specification, even if it's a Fender neck.

Yes sir. It is most certainly a Warmoth neck.

I have one body where the neck is not as snug as others. But I can't say it has visible gaps.

I had the same situation as you. My Walnut/Korina Tele body isn't as snug with the neck that arrived last week. No gaps but not as snug. I checked using the neck I already had and found the finish made a difference in the fit. New neck no finish/ old neck satin nitro finish. Now that is a tight tolerance.
