Amp guys' Question

I can get my 100 watt bass amp up to 5 or 6, but it dumbfounds me as to why there is a need for a volume and a master volume, its only one channel.

The "volume" control probably affects the tone to certain degree  - and/or affects the gain. Turning the volume up probably drives the amp harder. The the master controls the overall level of the amp.

My crate is the same way.. except it sounds more like a gate...

0 - 0.3 (ish) is off. and 0.4 is very much on. its annoying.  I need to use the output volume on my GT 5 to keep it quiet.

Nice thing about the rivera is that its quite smooth.  Although like schmoopy said. after 5 or 6 i dont see the point. unless i'm using an attenuator.
