AI Image Generators are a stone cold trip.

AI images are extremely easy to differentiate from real photos (at least currently), and that's when looking at the best of them.

The worst are straight-up nightmare fuel.

I just used one to create a "Screamin' Deals" image for the Guitar Necks mega-menu. The prompt I used was "guitar player singing into a microphone". Here are some of the results.

Two with magical megaphones. (The second one is EXTRA magical!)

Two with, umm.... genetic enhancement, namely six fingers and three hands, respectively:

And here are couple from the "your tongue doesn't go there" series:

And finally, an illustration I refer to as the "I don't want to know the answer to my question" image:

I eventually settled on one for the mega menu, and only noticed something wrong after I was done. Can you spot it?

and as far as the 'questionable' image, it's certainly a new take on 'guitar wanking'. That or the extra-large megaphone is compensating for something.

Also, I really appreciate that he’s attached the megaphone to a microphone stand. Gotta keep it handy at all times!

Im not sure which one you used but I have midjourney and variations of "electric guitar player screaming into a megaphone" got me some ok ones. I tried to post them but I will have to rehost them on IMGUR or something later

There were a lot of misses though 🤣

I remember that used to be a trend with pants! (not "pants" as Brits know them though!)

yeah the perspective is all whack, i've never seen a mega phone on a mic stand irl, and it just looks really, really bad overall

ngl, it's a real bummer to see y'all using AI now. makes me reconsider where I may take my business

It's simply been implemented into business. We still prefer the hand craft.

We have similar discussions in public ed all the time. While those of us of previous generations stand with our arms crossed and grumpily complain about "these kids today," the reality is that AI is here to stay, in whatever form that takes and however it continues to evolve. The trick now is how it's managed and how we guide our students, not how we resist and restrict it. Because that's just doomed to failure.

The same was said for smartphones 15 years ago.

The same was said for Internet access 30 years ago.

Like any new technology since the beginning of technology, AI can be used for good or ill. Point in case: I just read an article this morning that described how scientists used AI to identify three subtypes of a congenital brain disorder. I also just this morning read an article about the backlash against Coca Cola for using AI to generate their latest ad.

I share your disdain for AI in the arts. (I would argue that this little ad of no real consequence in the corner of our mega menu is not "the arts".) But if in our shared disdain for AI you and I draw a hard line at not supporting any business that uses it in even the tiniest measure we are gonna 1) deprive a lot of people of its life-altering benefits, and 2) have a hard time finding anywhere at all to spend our money, because it's already being used by everyone, everywhere, in everything, and a lot more is coming very soon.

Lastly, this is very obviously meant to be a light-hearted thread. Let's please keep it that way.

No. I would be surprised if that ever happened. We would probably be more likely to offer a megaphone-equipped-three-handed-replacement-neck.

Well, maybe not.

But a headless 15 fret neck still ain't gonna happen any time soon.
I’m willing to bet yall have a price point at which point you would reconsider… perhaps

This is correct.

I've deleted posts and issued warnings, and will continue to do so as necessary. If you have questions please refer to the Forum Rules, in particular the Negativity bullet point.
