Acoustic Guitar Replacement Necks

I'm wondering if any of you guys could recommend any companies that supply replacement equipment for acoustic guitars, more specifically, replacment necks. I think the truss rod on my '96 Fender DG5 finally gave up the spirit. I tried Fender's site, and that was pretty much useless, as was a search for replacements online (pretty much came up with electric necks). The only luck I had was StewMac, but I was hoping there would be more.

Thanks!

i hate to say this, but it might not be worth replacing. i can't find much info on the DG-5 though, so i could be looking at the completely wrong guitar. the ones i found looked like they were somewhere in the $150-$200 range. can't find online what they're made of. if it's got a lot of sentimental value it might be worth fixing up, but otherwise i'd say save that money and put it towards a new midrange acoustic.

otherwise i guess i'm not really much help. i don't know of any other suppliers besides stewmac that might be able to help here

1. Why do you think it gave up the ghost?

2. Consider using other strings to compensate.  Consider converting it to nylon...?  You'll have to mess with the bridge a little for that, but its not too terribly difficult.

3. If thats a set-neck Fender, you'll never get it off.  They dont use removable hide glue like Martin and Gibson and (the old) Epiphone do.

The biggest reason I've been looking around for a new neck is mainly due to the fact that the neck has always had a nasty crack in the heel since I've had it. I've glued it and the like, and I thought to myself either I was going to try to go through what I have, or replace it. I've also thought about running short screws along either side of the truss rod by the crack, and counter-syncing holes in the bottom end of the heel. To me, this seems like a logical way to pull tension back on the neck, but its still a think-out in process. The guitar was a $15 antique store find, and its more of a function over form thing. In addition, I know I need to refret it, I know I need to condition the fretboard, plus I also know that I need to replace the nut.

This guitar must have some serious mojo.  I don't think I would go to all the trouble for it, I'd just get a better guitar.

Bust a hole in the top, string it up with nylon strings, scrape and brillo off most of the finish, put some amber shellac on it here and there, add a few road stickers and hang it on the wall.

Tell'em Willy gave it to ya for a favor you did on his taxes.
