'59 Roundback neck - feels like a '50s Strat?

Hi everyone - I'm finally looking to pick up a neck for my Tele project, but have a question maybe someone can answer...I was thinking of getting my neck done in the '59 roundback radius instead of the standard thin..does anyone know if this neck plays like a '50s Strat neck?  Ish?  A friend of mine has a '58 Strat, and I've never been a Strat guy before, but that was the best playing guitar I've ever had the luck to get my hands on...and the neck felt fanfreakingtastic!  Any ideas?  Thanks!

The issue with strat necks from the 50's is that they are all pretty different.  The ones that I've played are more like the boat neck and fat back.    The 59 roundback seems much smaller that the real item from my experience.  I suspect the 59 roundback is Warmoth's take on what folks *think* a 50's neck *should* be like.  Kind of like your memory of your hot ex-girlfrend as opposed to actually bumping into her one day in the supermarket parking lot and finding out that she has a pile of kids and gained 50 pounds.

I always though the 59 was supposed to copy an old Les Paul or ES 335 shape? Regardless it's a real nice neck, noticeably thick but manageable. Recommended.

Pfft. I hang out with my hot ex-girlfriend almost daily. Because of her bikini, it looked like she was naked when we were under a blanket together today :P

bum chicka wow wow.

I picked up a tele neck from a buddy last night to finish, that was coincidentally a '59 roundback.

Someone else made the comparison, but from holding it last night, I have to agree.
It feels much like a PRS wide fat.  Granted it has the 1 11/16" nut which surely contributed to the "wide" part of it.
It has girth to it (compared to a standard thin), but I didn't think it was too much at all.

Completely subjective comment:  It felt real good.

I would have to agree with the PRS comparison, so long as you start out with a nut width of 1 11/16.  I had a PRS CE-3 bolt on some years ago, and it had quite a resemblance to the 59 roundback.

Feeling a 59 roundback with a 1 5/8 nut width is quite interesting.  In fact, if you prefer a bit more meat on your neck, it's a great transition from the wizard or standard thin to a fatback or even one of the asymetrical contours such as the SRV or Wolfy.

In my own personal opinion, the 59 doesn't feel real big in comparison to the boat or fat, but it's not an itty bitty wizard either, that's one of the things I like about it.
