weekend progress  , pickup cavities and wire channels routed ,  balanced out the weight with a pocket on the upper side.

I decided to get creative as I gave it 24 "fret" access to extend the fingerboard a bit with a section that mimics the tail , I'll stain it darker to match the ebony later .

stained 5 coats deep vintage amber with a touch of cherry, each back sanded down clean.  This is just with an alcohol wipe to give an idea .
Scalloped and stained the fingerboard extension .. very pleased .  This is a lined fretless , ( don't be fooled! ..lol )

I think I might be worried about that upper horn breaking off, though.

Of course, I worry about a lot of things I probably shouldn't. I blame my mother. She was an easy mark <grin>

the redwood/walnut/lacewood laminate is very strong .  A similar bass I built has been on the road with a Nashville band for 2 years with no issues , so it's "road tested "
