Who do you not go see, cause you don't want to doink your memories?

I wouldn't watch VH, mostly because I saw them in 1982 and 1984.

Who do you wish you had not seen play live ?

I admit, some of it may be opener-itis, though I've also seen a fair bunch of bands eat the headliners for lunch. As odd as this may sound, Loverboy was actually a rock band in 1981 and kicked Journey all over their own stage. Even some openers who didn't go over well with the crowd (i.e...

Who do you wish you had not seen play live ?

I saw the same Cars/Wang Chung bill in Norfolk VA in 1984, and it probably sits at or near the top of the list. My clearest memory is that Ric Ocasek never said a single word to the crowd, second clearest being that the sound was a mess. Bon Jovi opening for The Scorpions in 1984. Orion the...

    Using Up Scraps: Non-Guitar Woodworking

Haven't been building or assembling any guitars lately. D@mmit. But I did find this way to utilize some very guitar-centric wood scraps. I printed out the image, glued it to a piece of flame maple and cut out the outline. I glued a copy of just the eye and nose portion to some thin ebony...

Hear Warmoths; See a Forum Member Vent His Spleen

This is a particularly bad China movie. China _can_ make some good films, though I don't watch many of them in general. The last one I remember seeing is THE EQUATION OF LOVE AND DEATH. This one is notable only because of the amount of $ and talent that were wasted on it. Andy Lau is the...

Hear Warmoths; See a Forum Member Vent His Spleen

I used some of my Warmoths for the intro music. I used my horrendous temper for the rest of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR-yGJa44T0 I hope you're entertained; it would make my high blood pressure worth it.

Would our International customers like to see DHL as a new shipping option?

I live in Hong Kong, so I have no issues with taxes or customs. I've never had a problem with my Warmoth orders delivered by UPS, but I would appreciate the DHL option.  I have used DHL for years (StewMac uses them) and I find them to be really great; their customer service is very flexible...

    Gotoh Floyd

Warmoth uses a slight angle in the neck pocket of non-recessed Floyd-routed bodies because the bridge is higher than a standard/vintage strat. On recess-routed bodies, the neck pocket is parallel to the top. So if you want to use a Gotoh with the recess, you may find the factory block...

    Gotoh Floyd

Sorry, I wasn't too clear. The stock Gotoh block is taller and may protrude out the back/bottom. When I got the big blocks for my Gotohs, I had them made shorter to avoid the issue. But mine were done custom at a little machine shop here in Hong Kong. I think, from what I've seen, that big...

    Gotoh Floyd

I believe the block on the Gotoh is indeed taller. I replaced mine with a big-block and when I spec'd it, I had it made shorter. I strongly recommend the upgrade, and most places allow you to get the shorter version. Problem solved and tone improved.

    Custom Build w/Warmoth Truss Rod

I used Pylox spray cans. It might be more expensive, but you can check hobby/modeling shops for custom colors.

    Custom Build w/Warmoth Truss Rod

I think the trick is to find the 'median' color (in my case, the white). You can always try out some test pieces first to see what it looks like. DO IT!!!

    Custom Build w/Warmoth Truss Rod

Sorry to have been so absent lately; work and life realities have curbed my building endeavors a whole lot. I hate to admit it, but about the only W-ness in this one is the truss rod. But it was fun, and that's the object, isn't it...
