Wood Combo - Mahogany Body/Quartersawn Maple Neck

Not at all a Warmoth, but I cut the body from a slab of Peruvian mahogany.  It's heavy, but it's a great sounding guitar.  Neck is a Squier 24" jag scale.  With a few personal upgrades.

    Rosewood bodies

My partner and I could probably cut you a rosewood body, but that would probably violate the rules of this forum.

    String slippage?

Yeah, I've got locking tuners on my Jazzmaster.  They're nice.  They're the heaviest part of the guitar, so they're not without tradeoffs.  This Jag is heavy already. After playing a few hours on it, it seems to be pretty stable now.  Thanks gents.

    String slippage?

Good thinking.  I'm going to play and bend some more.  Last set wasn't new, and might have been defective.  This set might have been coincidence, as you suggest.  Thanks.

    String slippage?

My jag has a squier neck and tuners on it.  They seemed exactly like the Fender standard, so I didn't really even think about replacing them. Now, I think the high E string is slipping.  I replaced the strings (D'Addario 12-52's), and it did it again this morning.  I'd tune it to pitch, bend...

Anyone see the new metalic bursts?

Well, you know this bunch of enablers..... :evil4: But heck, I love sparkly, metallic, shiny or iridescent stuff.  I say do it!  Take lots of pictures so we may live vicariously.  Maybe they can do a matching headstock.

Another one-part excuse for a build

Thanks, Ian.  The mandolin is done, but the neck has a bow in it.  I have no idea what to do with that, and it's certainly not worth putting money into.  It's pretty though.  It should hang on a wall somewhere. The Alvarez is pretty nice, and has done a church service, (blessed by the...

Another one-part excuse for a build

Good call!  I've been sidetracked lately. A friend of my wife sent her home with a busted mandolin I've been working on. I know absolutely nothing about mandolins. I was also given an Alvarez dreadnaught, which needs a LOT of help.  It belonged to a friend of mine who killed himself last...

Another one-part excuse for a build

Very cool!  You must tell me about this place with used gear and unused necks.... Ebony and maple makes me think you should try your hand an archtop.  Or at least a semihollow.

    Guitar Family Portrait. (post em)

Dang, there's some serious guitar meat around this place.  And I see why Warmoth calls Orpheo a "Hero Member"! Here's the three I've built, not including the '57 Gibson or the Victor Baker archtop.

The Widows Son AKA One Sweet Piece Of Ash.... DONE!!!!

That is a great look, sometimes accidents are the mother of invention. Speakin' of which, I see I'm not the only one who worked out the mic stand trick... :icon_thumright:

Gecko (narrow) Fretless Mahogany/Flame Koa - Last bits all done. :)

Telecutie, this is a very interesting method.  I can see that if it worked, you'd get better chatoyance out of flamey wood grain with this process.  Does this take longer to cure?  How does it hold up?  I'm working on a body for a friend who wants a TO finish, and I might try this....
