There only medium-scale Fender solidbody I know of right now is the Pawnshop Reverse Jaguar; it's got a reverse headstock (hence the name) and two humbucking pickups. Access to the upper frets is limited, however, and it seemed heavy in weight when I tried it. It has a special bridge of some...
Beautiful work! That woodburning was used to create the artwork? Cool. Must have been challenging. Would something like that show up if coated in Warmoth transparent green/yellow?
Reranch has pretty detailed instructions on how to prepare a body to receive its spray-can finishes. What I'm a little unsure of is what state unfinished Warmoth bodies arrive to the consumer in. They have been dipped in sealer, right? As so have the necks? Does this mean that the initial steps...
I stand corrected. Are you pleased with the sound? It certainly looks AMAZING! I'm also wondering how a chambered body would sound on a bass, esp. with an exotic top....
Yeah, I think the confusion gets worse because MKW tenss to acquire a slightly pinkish overtone when photograohed. I'm not sure if that's really evident in real life and in person, though. I think it's a potentially cool color.
Could one inject a dye into the wood to make the wood grain stand...
Okay. I take it you don't like MKW? That's cool. Everybody has their preferences. My current favorites happen to be either Ocean Turquoise Transparent or Seafoam Green.
This one looks nice to me. Ray S. posted this in the Warmoth Gallery.
Ah, yes! This strat looks very nice. Black pickguard is an interesting choice. Brings out the veins in the wood. Koo-wuhl.
In this case, the zebrawood is a top over a chambered alder body. I guess the owner figured a solid zebrawood body would be too heavy?
You most often see MKW on Ash, but does anybody think it would look good on Zebrawood or on Black Korina?
Also, I'm pretty sure that Fender called that transparent white color "Mary Kaye White" after the famed lounge performer. I don't think it should be confused with "Mary Kay," the cosmetics...
How about a short/medium scale P-bass body with a proportionate pickguard? And for heaven's sake, and short/medium bass bodies and necks to the online guitar builder already. It's like the rest of the Warmoth website is wholly unaware that the Warhead necks and short/medium scale bass bodies...
Some questions:
I'm curious if anyone has neck-pocket specs and/or neck/body dimensions on the J-style medium-scale basses.
Are there any plans to offer a medium-scale P-style bass?
Has anybody played a medium-scale Warmoth bass and what do they think?
Doesn't look that way from their website, but it wouldn't hurt to give them a call. You never know. One odd thing to me is that they don't seem to sell white pickup covers for bass, which I would think would be a popular option.
