    Burnishing Raw Necks

Cagey (or anyone else who has used them)- how long do those 3M Polishing Papers typically last? How many times could I reasonably expect to do this (I have 6 raw necks currently) before the paper is shot and I need a new one? Also, did you dry sand with each grit or did it help to wet sand a...

New Taylor 414ce- Keeping humidity in check...

You can find it here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/oasis-oh-2-digital-hygrometer-w-clip There might be better hygrometers out there, so you may want to browse around.

New Taylor 414ce- Keeping humidity in check...

THIS Taylor isn't messing around with the humidity, BUT it isn't as scary as it may seem. The horror pictures they give you with the guitar show what happens when the guitar is in extreme humidity situations for long periods of time. Unless you're leaving it in the trunk of a black car all the...

Need help with picking options for my first REAL electric!

I'll just address the ones I know enough to help with. Pickups: Humbuckers are what you want for that LP sound. As for the specific models, that's where it gets tough. There are a lot of manufacturers out there, some good, some great, but you'll find that price is often a limiting factor. Also...

    Grounding Issue?

Ok yeah I thought that might be the case. It doesn't matter, I'm fine with the 60 cycle hum because I love the tone of the pickups. For future reference though, what do you find to be the best material to shield control cavities/pickguards/etc. with?

    Grounding Issue?

Yeah that makes sense, thanks for the help Cagey. I rather foolishly thought I could put P90s in a guitar without any shielding at all and get away with it. The wires are all shielded though, if by shielded you mean that they have the rubber sleeve thing around them. I'll try shielding the...

    Grounding Issue?

Hey I just finished wiring up my Warmoth, and electronically everything seems to be fine. Both pickups are working, and the tone and volume knob do what they're supposed to. However, when I am not touching any metal on the guitar, it buzzes noticeably. If I touch the bridge, knob, strings, etc...

    Cooper Burst Flame Top Strat

Thanks for the info Cagey. Is the Warmoth installed nut a good starting point for a nut that doesn't require string trees, or do you have to file one from scratch for that to happen?

Strat Selector Switch Route on Rear Route Body

The pickup selector switch on my new rear-routed Strat body hits up against the edge of the switch route when at positions 1 and 3 (it's a three way switch). Is that normal? What do you guys do to protect the finish from cracking when the switch hits it?

    Cooper Burst Flame Top Strat

Yeah I've noticed that winding the strings so they sit low on the post can really help, especially with unusually short posts like the Gotoh 510 Magnum Locking Tuners have. But for a novice like me, how would you cut the nut properly to ensure you don't need the trees?

    Tobacco Burst Black Korina Strat

Agreed  :icon_thumright: It would be cool to see it in natural light. I think that would really bring it to life visually.

    Cooper Burst Flame Top Strat

That is one seriously classy Strat. Literally everything about it is perfect, which you don't see all to often, especially with Strats. Give people something as customizable as a Strat and they're bound to make some weird choices  :laughing7: Seriously though, the aged parchment is the icing on...

I may have gotten a bit carried away...

Well the all wenge neck is for a Fender Highway 1 Strat that I felt needed an upgrade. The all Pau Ferro I bought because it was one of the nicer one's I've seen, and I think it would look amazing with an Olympic white Strat body. But I'm going to wait for a little while before ordering that ...

I may have gotten a bit carried away...

So it seems I've caught a serious case of the Warmoth bug... Over the course of the past two weeks I've bought a showcase body, a Wenge/Black Ebony build to order neck, an all Wenge showcase neck, and an all Pau Ferro showcase neck. If this keeps up, I'm going to need a guitar building...
