    Gotoh Floyd Route

i don't know if this would cause other problems, but why not use OFR studs with the Gotoh trem?  :dontknow:

    24-Fret Question

If you are asking whether you will be able to REACH the 24th fret, I think that you may have a bit of a rough go, unless the W was willing to do a special 7/8th SG like their 7/8th strats and teles with 24 frets and a 24 & 3/4 inch scale. If you aren't worried about having very easy reach, it's...

    Pickups for a HSS setup

I find that any moderately hot pickup can do metal tones. It has more to do with your amp, distortions, and overdrives than your pickups. I bet a GFS VEH would sound wonderful, and it would be easy on your wallet...

    Bloodwood/Bloodwood

i think you may be confusing bloodwood with padouk, which oxidizes very rapidly. Your bloodwood neck should keep it's color for a nice long time IIRC

yeah, i thought those might work too, but they are too big. 10mm anyone?

    here's a puzzle...

For some reason, I cannot come up with a locking, 18:1, six in-line tuner meant to fit in a 10 mm hole that comes in black? I'm sure something like this exists somewhere...

    Completed VIP

you can usually tell that a guitar is going to balance well when the upper horn, or bout, or wherever you put the strap button, is fairly close to the twelfth fret. Other things that help balance is when the body is fairly heavy. The strap button of a les paul might not be terribly close to the...

    Volume issue

It shouldn't be a problem to have pots with different values, but I say if you're opening up the guitar, you might as will gut it and do 500k for volume and tone and .022 for the cap. Pots and caps are cheap, and it'll do you good.

    Wenge/? neck

rosewood seems to be the first obvious choice to me. There's also goncalo, but I'm not sure how good that might look.

    neck profiles...fatback, or boat

the boat is a fatback that's had the shoulders slimmed a bit, to create a slight v contour. If you have a "thumb over" sorta style this might work well for you, but some find it uncomfortable.

Things you'd ALWAYS do on a guitar build

locking tuners, straight string pull, a lack of string tees if possible, compensated nut of tusq or similar slipperyness if possible, compound radius fingerboard, stainless steel frets, trussrod access above the neck pickup MM style if possible, strap locks, fully independent action and...

    More 7/8 body options

when the strat has no pickguard, it looks pretty sharp. Do a search on the forum for greg's black korina 7/8 strat. One of the best looking guitars around here in my opinion. Sorry I don't have the link on hand here I'll probably post one afterwards.

    2 and 4 position on a strat

They are not out of phase electronically, but they are picking up different waveforms that are acoustically out of phase with eachother, so it is still out of phase. This is what scoops those mids out.
