Hey Re-Pete,
I'm just as surprised as you mate. Unfortunately all three necks are out of warrant. All three were custom ordered, mine were ordered in 2008 (wenge/ebony) and 2009 (rosewood/ebony) and the customers one piece rosewood neck was I think 2010. He seems to know a few people that have...
Hey Cagey,
I agree, it is definitely beyond coincidence. Beyond that there's not a whole lot I agree with in your post.
First off - you can SEE the twist. Sighting down the neck is not some kind of cheap parlour trick, it is actually a useful way of generally gauging what a neck is doing...
I posted here a few months back about my raw rosewood neck that has developed a slight counter-clockwise twist, creating a small hump at the 3rd fret which makes clean notes on the first three frets impossible.
A few weeks later I noticed my wenge neck has the same problem, albeit not quite as...
Hey Pete, I moved from Kiama to Melbourne just over a year ago. To be honest haven't noticed a huge change in the guitars' setups, esp the wenge boat neck: solid as a rock.
I only really noticed this rosewood neck twisting after we had a spate of heat waves, so maybe that affected it
There's some really great info on this thread :icon_thumright:
To clarify, I think in the 4-5 years I've had this neck I've only oiled the neck shaft twice, mmmmaybe three times. And only ever when it's appeared dry - easy to happen over here in Oz. the fretboard (macassar ebony) has probably...
Hey stub,
Mate I hadn't noticed it significantly until I have it a much deserved setup. You know how it is, customer guitars first etc.
I think you're right, I'm just going to have to see what the woo decides to do and move from there. I'm not very keen on taking the neck apart, but I guess it...
Thanks for the thoughts guys,
I think I'll take some measurements and some photos and flick warmoth an email. I'm devastated, this neck has been incredible til now!
Put the straight edge on it yesterday (I work as a tech), definitely dips from the fourth fret on the Low E side. I see this alot on Chinese guitars (the bulk of my work) with timbers that haven't been dried correctly.
In terms of setup, the high e side actually has slightly too much relief...
Hey gang,
Don't post much these days, but thought I'd throw it out there: has anyone had an exotic neck warp? I have a four year old rosewood/ebony standard W (pro construction) that is starting to twist - the high e has normal relief, but the low E side has a hump around the fourth fret. Makes...
Lads,
Haven't posted here for a few years now, but thought I'd throw it out anyways: anyone know of a retro-fit trem/vibrato system that will work on a recessed TOM setup? It's on my 2008 semi-hollow black korina tele - my #2 axe after 6 years. My 2009 thinline still #1..,
Cheers gang!
just quietly, why go to the effort of sculting the crap out of the back of a guitar, and then using a hideous looking non-recessed trem cover????????!?!?!?!?!? MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! :dontknow:
for some heavy riffs or sections I really want to stand out I will double track like this:
one guitar played through orange, double mic'd with a 57 and beyer m81
same guitar played through marshall into the same cab with same mics/placement
So essentially four tracks of guitar. I'll usually...
read an interview with Mike Soldano (he made SRV an amp just before he died) and SRV specified it to have a mid-cut at 400. I have an MXR 6 band as well, and dump the 400 out. Gives an awesome woody sound. I struggle without it now!
the thing i can't work out.... does the world need yet another signature les paul in some kind of burst? Really?? Is it necessary?? just making it a "signature" model ups the price by a grand. does not make any sense to me :dontknow:
ps a few of my friends (mostly in punk bands) only have...
