I like the blood stain idea, but don't think I have the stomach to take a knife to myself. Vintage tint will have to do. My hope is that before I die the guitar will get some good wear on it and look like it is been played for a lifetime.

Is there a pickguard that will work on a Musiclander body? The original fender version had a pickguard that looked like it came from a mustang. Are all of the Warmoth musiclander bodies rear routed?

For me the perfect Tele is a thinline, no F hole, with a strat neck and and strat pick up in the neck position. If it doesn't have a tele bridge then it is not a tele, in my opinion.
For me the key was patience. I put my first one all together and it took a lot of iterative tweaking to get it right. Eventually, though, you will have a guitar setup perfectly for you. After building several I feel like I have developed some good skills.
