Yet another Stratocaster - vintage white

That is a beautiful guitar.

I wouldn't go with black knobs though.  I'd stick with the eggshell color scheme and try to match the knobs with the body paint.  Not that the white looks bad, but when someone mentioned contrasting the knobs against the pick guard, that made sense.

Coffee works pretty damn good for "aging" strat knobs and pickup covers.

I ordered parchment knobs from warmoth which should match the body dead on. In the meantime, wiring is done, guitar is assembled, plugged in and test driven.... oh my. This thing is magnificent. The 'neck on' switch I think is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I still need to properly attach the ground to the tremolo screw, but it should do for now until I get out to Radio Shack.

I guess it's too late to chime in about the coffee trick... but I'll do it anyway :icon_tongue:

http://www.wfzr.net/img/strat3.jpg - whoa! too much time in the hot coffee... including the selector tip - trem tip would not stain...

http://www.wfzr.net/img/strat4.jpg - after a couple hours in water and bleach solution... looks better.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm really loving these pickups and the wiring configuration. The neck on is fantastic as is the passive midrange.

The one thing I've noticed now with doing my own wiring, is that the tone is super responsive.... Every factory guitar I've ever played just seemed to lack that tonal variation.  Not sure if it's just me, or maybe it's using higher quality pots/caps/pups in this guitar and the last mod I did, but either way, I'm really digging it  :headbang:

It does have a Yngwie vibe to it too... I never even thought of that :) I was thinking more along the lines of Jimi H and Jimmie V... in fact, It looks like the Jimmie V artist series strat: http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0139202305  .... although I don't know if I can "stir in tones with just the right amount of southwestern spice and rattlesnake bite." like you supposedly can with that guitar  :laughing7:

Probably better quality caps and pots are doing the job for you.  Changing those things on any MIM Fender makes a huge difference to the tone  :headbang:
