Trying to select the Warmoth neck profile and fret size that would give my tele projects neck the closest feel to a 2013 Les Paul Studio Deluxe II 60's neck, flame top guitar that I played recently. I really liked the feel of the neck. I do know it was a 12" radius and 1-11/16" nut.  Would the 59 roundback and 6130 frets be my best bet. I do a lot of bending so maybe the 6150 wich are taller would be better. Confused and need some guidance. Ordered the other day so I'm sure I have time to change.

If you are referring to a gibson with a 60 s slim taper, I mould say the warmoth standard thin.

As an interesting point 59 Les Paul's I believe had chunkier necks than the 60s models. Probably some of those 59s when they were sold as second hand guitars to up and coming guitar players in London, got shaved down.  Now you would probably be lambasted for doing such a thing to a collectible item.

A '60s Les Paul neck is gonna be thicker than a Standard Thin, but thinner than a '59.

I'd say the Wolfgang would be the closest, but I don't know if you want an asymmetric contour.

Yep. Finished talking with Warmoth. Got the Wolfgang with SS6150 frets 12" radius being built. Can't wait to get it.

Just a small point to note: although Gibson will specify that any given guitar will have a 50s/60s/D/whatever neck, the reality is that due to the way they shape and finish their necks, every individual guitar will have a slightly different neck. As someone who has handled more Gibsons than he cares to remember, I can tell you I've lost count of the number of times I've had 'slim' 60s necks that were bordering on a solid 1" thick, and similarly 'thick' 50s necks that were slimmer than most standard Fenders. This, like PAF pickups and the whole issue of weight, is part of the ''magic'' of Gibson. Every single one is different, for better or worse.

Funnily enough, there is one exception, which is the previous (up to 2012, I believe, though it may have run over into early 2013) Standard neck, which had an asymmetrical profile which was very precisely shaped and finished with no variation between units, and happens to be very close to the Wolfgang profile you've ordered. The Gibson neck was meant to be be a 50s thickness at the top and a 60s thickness at the bottom, and the Studio models (as you referenced) do tend to have a thicker neck than most, so it follows reason that the Wolfgang probably will be as close to the neck of that Studio you played.

And for what little it's worth now, it's definitely a good thing you did not order the Warmoth Standard Thin neck, as that is far, far flatter and slimmer than even the thinnest of 60s Gibson necks. It's actually a U-shape neck, almost identical to ESP LTD's Thin U profile and Epiphone's Slim D. It's not even as thick and round as the standard Fender thing C, let alone any Gibson neck. :icon_thumright:

Sound's great, thanks for the info. The Wolfgang is what I finally settled on  and it is already into production at Warmouth. Sounds like they are on the ball and got it underway.  :cool01:
