Just got my neck, the wenge is alot lighter (in colour) than I thought, but the grain along the top edge is stunning, and that's the bit I'll see while I'm playing.

No body as yet but I'm thinking a carve top Tele, black korina in trans green or dragon burst

That's a really sharp neck! Most important part of the instrument, if you ask me. Everything revolves around that.

You're right -- the neck looks nice, but not particularly special from the back, but from the side, it's spectacular!  And being able to see it while playing, I think you'll get a little adrenaline bump for years whenever you look at it.  Quite the happy accident!

Had a rare moment of motivation and sanded the neck to 1200 grit and fitted the tuners, also my pau ferro knobs arrived

nice; just recently ordered another wenge neck myself- though with ebony fretboard like my last- though with a reverse warhead. My last was quite a bit darker than that, that is pretty nice.

Where did you get the knobs from?

eBay http://stores.ebay.com.au/Exotic-Wood-Knobs-And-Guitar-Parts?_trksid=p4340.l2563 I bought some ebony knobs for my last bass build from him but he doesn't have them listed at the moment.

oooh!! That Pau Ferro fretboard looks great! I'm expecting a neck soon (hopefully by end of this week), also with a pau ferro fretboard with no front inlays. I love seeing all the glory of the fretboard wood without any distraction by inlays!

Yeah, it's a nice piece, it was a unique choice.

I have just ordered a body for this neck. The neck took right on 3 weeks to arrive, hopefully the body will be just as quick, I've ordered it unfinished so wont have to wait for paint.
