Tonarcaster/ Tele Special

As long as you're working on this one, I'm in no danger of being the guy who takes the longest to finish his guitars.

Is this a contest? Because I've been puttering around with my mahogany Strat for about 6 months now <grin>

Although, the Behlen finishing stuff and the poison to rapidly age the wood showed up yesterday. I gotta get off my ass and rout that thing while I still live here and have a shop to goof around in. Hell of it is, every time I think I wanna play in the shop, my legs act up and I can't get downstairs easily.

You have no claim on that title Jay while I'm here....I have a JM project that was started in 2002 & is still incomplete!

Black Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssseeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am really diggin' this tele!!!  I must agree with tonar; black is the only way to go on this girl.  The white does not have enough contrast...
:kewlpics: &  :rock-on:

I'll +1 for black, much better. And anything, up to and including GITD hot pink, is always better than tortoise!

Edit: wrote white instead of black. I need to eat :tard:

It's a white wash lacquer then a very light beige lacquer wash like Gibson did on the TV Yellow finishes. The grain filler was Jasco natural oil filler with some Raw Umber and Red Universal Colorant to tint it up. Clear coat is Val Spar gloss nitrocellulose, which should yellow up very nicely as it ages.

Thank you, good stuff.
Looks great.  I imagine that can be a tricky application, with the correct thickness being critical.

Yeah but I do have 3 projects dated back to Feb-May 2010.

I got the pickguard material today, and fine-tuned the pickguard design last night. Hopefully, I'll be done by next tuesday, but it looks like it could be a bit before I get the guitar back from the shop.
