Tonarcaster/ Tele Special

Hey max if your after a yellow coloured tele switch cover (whatever its called) well if its made out of plastic if you have one near you, dont know how well known or common they are in america (if thats where you are, i wasnt sure) but head to a games workshop, there paints are really good on plastics, and they have a wide variety of yellows i find, and im sure you could make the paintwork look smooth no bumps or anything.
Just a suggestion if you still cant find one.

Looks like i picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue  :icon_biggrin:

Bakelite.

You don't like the traditional Tele bridge cover, that's fine.

I say, if you're going custom, why stop at the 'guard?

A slanted pickup selector switch, a mini toggle or two for coil splitting. Wadda ya think?

Biggus, are you joking on that last one? :P

I made that image for my guitar. I decided angled switch and two pots. I can add a switch later.

Ha, it looked shooped. I seriously couldn't remember where that picture came from. It was in the unwieldy folder marked Tele on my desktop.

I used to lurk this board a lot before recently deciding to post on it.

I could see using the mini-toggle to go series/parallel - but I reckon a 4-position pickup switch would be less obtrusive.

I think it's update time.

So, I've got the
Neck
Tuners
Pots
Switch
Switch tip
Knobs
Knob indicators
Pickup rings
Jack
Jack plate
3 way switch (just in case)
Neck plate
neck screws
pickguard screws
ferrules
strap buttons

So, that leaves a few things, including
body
pickups
pickguard
strap locks
bridge
saddles
control plate

And I'm finally getting moving on getting those parts.
I got a box while I was conquering the rapids of West Virginia (Upper Gauley River-highly recommended. Lower Gualey gave me a hotter guide, though, just sayin')/

Inside that box was...
Another box!
Fortunately for me, being extremely tired (I most likely look like I was enjoying other recreational activities instead of just rafting, but it's just the result of the car ride and the rapids) the inner box had a clear top. There was a telecaster pickup... with p90 screws. Bizarre! On the other side, was a metal enclosure, about the right size and shape of a humbucker. I'll just take Ken's word that there is actually a pickup inside the casing.

And next to the box was a bag. With special design straplocks. I believe Grolsch uses something similar. Thanks, you know who you are.

Pics tomorrow, when I'm at least 80% awake.

Glad to see you got the box.

Inside was a prototype of the "T90" and an A2 Humbucker. It will be interesting to see how these work together in your guitar. Max asked if I would be interested in doing a Tele bridge made this way. I'm usually up for anything so he gets to be the official guinea pig.

The T90 has ceramic 8 mags supporting it. The bucker is Alnico 2 bumped a little to help it keep up with the bridge and it should have no problem doing so. What will be interesting is the mix of the two.

Max I hope you don't mind me posting these up. Now you can see what's under the metal cover.... BTW , I made all of the T90's bobbin from scratch.(pictured is one of the ones I made before yours)  The bucker pic is a tad skewed and I leave the screws up to help with putting the cover on.

Like I said, I haven't tried the pickups yet, but here's some more praise for Ken as a great person to deal with. Excellent service, makes me really think I'll like the product  :icon_thumright:

I'm excited to hear about this.  If it's anything like my experience with Ken's pickups, it's going to be amazing.

Take two on a song I've tried making up before. Improv lead again.

Rhythm on humbucker
Lead on t-90

jet city, 20 watt for both
miked with an SM 57

And now that I hear it on normal speakers, I noticed I forgot to add my mids back in on the lead part. Crap. That's why it sounds so thin.

So, I got my control plate yesterday. Mark Rutter's hot rod control plate.

I noticed my knobs were too high. Not gonna live with that.

So, I fixed it. Drilled the knob until it was countersunk to my liking.
