This Drawing will be open to all board members
Donations shall be in increments of $10 with a maximum donation of $50
First place drawing shall be total monies collected less PayPal fees and $50
Second chance drawing shall be $50

Rules:

1. There will be no maximum tickets sold. Last time we set the max to 80 then increased it and still didn’t quite hit 100 so I don’t think a max is necessary.
2. Maximum tickets per person will be 5
3. All donations will be sent to a PayPal account, with the total balance less $50 to be transferred to the winners account to be used in building a Warmoth.
4. In the event the winner would like a “Board Build” we will limit this to two threads, one for body and one for neck and the thread should not live for more them 1 week.
5. If you do not want to participate in the “Board Build” please refrain from posting any comments in the thread that are not positive.

Winner Requirements (This can’t be enforced, but if you don’t agree don’t enter)

1. Electronics and such can be purchased anywhere but Body and Neck MUST BE purchased from Warmoth. If you already have a neck and want two bodies that is fine, or vise versa. The purpose of the drawing is to have a COMPLETED Warmoth at the end. In the spirit of the drawing we are not looking to make the cheapest guitar possible and pocket the rest of the cash.
2. Pictures of the completed project must be posted.

Second Chance Drawing:

1. Second Chance drawing is for $50
2. All participants that purchase 5 tickets will receive a sixth ticket to be entered into a second chance drawing.
3. Groundhog’s Day is Feb 2, in the US. (international participants look it up) I will take all participants entered as of Feb 1st and assign a number to them. In the event the groundhog sees it shadow all odd numbers will advance to second chance drawing. If the groundhog does not see his shadow even numbers will advance.
4. Regardless of how many spots a participant may have had in the regular drawing they will only be represented one time in the second chance drawing. Ex. John Doe had numbers 2, 7, 8, and the groundhog didn’t see its shadow, John would still only get one spot in the second chance drawing. In addition if you bought 5 tickets you are already entered into the second chance.

Proven Methodology for Randomness:

Here is how it was ran last time and how it will run again for any new comers:

A thread will be started and have a list of people and how many donations they have made. I will be the only one to update the list in the thread but all participants should comment on the list when they send in there funds. once I verify the funds are there the list gets updated with the new entry. every so often the thread will be updated with number of donation made as well as the total amount in the PayPal account.

As each person donates there name is added to an excel spread sheet that I maintain. Of course I just add the names as the donations come in and nobody wants consecutive tickets so this is what I did last time and will do again.
Once the drawing closes and no more donations are being accepted I put all the names into an excel sheet with 3 columns. The first column is simply accending numbers 1 - 100 (or however many tickets are sold) the second column is the persons name. The third column I use the "Rand" functionn in excel to generate a random number less then 1. This will give me a decimal number out to the hundredth's of which no one will be the same. I then sort columns 2 and 3 using column 3 and I sort it "accending" this will then put all the names in a random order with column one as the number assigned. The final list will be posted on the forum prior to any drawing.

Once the final list is posted we will use a random dice website to determin the winner. Depending on the number of participants the number and type of dice we use will vary. The site can be found here:
http://www.white-wolf.com/DiceRollers/d20roller.php

you will have to register to view the roll. There will be one official roll at a date and time to be determined and the person to roll be be determined at a later date as well.

One last thing I have to check my paypal account....last time I checked I was very close to the max amount of money I can "send" without being verified. I can receive money but I think I have to get verified in order to send money. The cap is 10k and for the life of me I don't recall sending that much money but I have had the account for about 10 years so it may be possible. In any event I don't want to get into a situation where I can receive money and not send so I will post when it is a verified account I donn't know how long it takes them to process this kind of request.

this is fixed so it is a non-issue.

The way we do it.... and its to both insure the amount won and the chances to win, is to make a certain number of "tickets" available, and not hold the drawing until they are all sold - or - until a date is met.  Usually we sell out.

The logic there is you know the odds, and the payout.

Imagine only a total sale of a small amount, yet someone contributed the max - on the chance they'd win big.

Sell only 35 tix but one guy bought 5... makes the payout less.

Just giving my 2c on that

that is how it was done last time. It was a limit of 3 with a total of 80 sold. In the end we didn't quit get to 80 so we opened it up to for people to buy 2 more. At that point we still didn't make it to 100 so I think as long as we have a limit of 5 we should be fine. I don't think it will exceed 100 if it does I think 125 would be a fair number,

I think I'll throw my coin into the hat this time as well.

There's a Jazz 5 that is just waiting to be built .......

Well, how about a disclaimer that says - no drawing until at least "XX" tickets are sold.  Make it like minimum for the drawing is 50 tix or something, so at least you know the minimum the payback can be.  In my mind - I'm thinkin' whats my risk/benefit ratio here?  I take a $50 risk... ok, but whats the possible payback?  Ya see where I'm coming from?

I'd be in for a couple of tickets.  Not that I need another guitar.

You know, I once searched the galleries for a Jagstang and didn't find any, so I think I'd build a jagstang if I won.

Count me in. When do you expect to give the payment information so we know where to send the money?
MULLY
or did I skip over that information?
