Had some parts lying around from a previous build that I never got around to completing, chanced across someone selling this telecaster body, and voila! SEMI NEW GUITAR TIME!
(camera ran out of battery so here's a cellphone photo in the meantime :sad
Here are the specs:
Mahogany with flame maple cap body, chambered, tobacco sunburst/black back with vintage tint taped binding
Indian rosewood neck with pau ferro fretboard, 6150 stainless steel frets, 25.5" scale (although a 24.5" conversion might sound nice, hmm...)
Lollar Imperial humbuckers, CTS pots, Dimarzio switch, some old Russian PIO cap from a guy on TGP
Gotoh Wilkinson VG300 tremolo with a Tremol-no (because I'm not a tremolo kinda guy but the body already had a recessed Wilkinson route)
Schaller M6 mini locking tuners
end result - actually heavier than I thought it would be for a chambered guitar, must be all that metal hardware. Very resonant and chimey, the Lollar pickups sound really really good.
not exactly all the things I look for in my ideal guitar (well this would be it if it had a stop tail bridge and 24.5" scale), but definitely a keeper nonetheless!
P.S. yeah it's missing a string, the high e snapped and I didn't have any spares around
