Telecaster Pickups for Vintage Tone

Sorry to be a bit dumb here but for standard wiring would I just solder the third neck pickup wire (or put another way, the second ground wire) to a pot, and for the bridge pickup I wouldn't need to use the ground wired washer at all?

Negative - any metal has to be on a common ground, including shielding. You must ground the baseplate on a Tele bridge, either to the ground wire or to the back of a pot. Same for metal pickup covers on the neck.

Quick follow up: When building my control plate, one of the pieces was soldering a wire to the Tone pot which will be connected to the bridge, or at least placed under the bridge, for grounding. Is this the same thing that Rob at Cavalier is talking about with the ground wired washer, but just a different approach to accomplishing the grounding? If so, as long as I use the wire I already soldered to the Tone pot, and connect it to the Bridge pickup, I wouldn't need to use the ground wired washer? I like his approach but since I already did it the other way .....
