Teilecaster

The blue shell pickguard looks really cool ... on it's own. On that guitar, I can only look at the pickguard standing out and not the other details. The black doesn't quite do it for me either, but it's better. Hmmm ... it's like there needs to be something in between. Blue Pearl, Black Pearl ... Hell, I don't know! :D

All I know is that now I need some kind of white guitar with a blue shell pickguard. Thanks for igniting my G.A.S.! ;)

And JA! You've seen richtig! I put the Kontrollplatte in backwards! On purpose!’

All jokes aside, "reverse" control plate always made more sense to me.
I agree 100%. I always use reverse control plate on my teles as I use the volume knob way more than the pickup selector

I agree, I do like that blue shell, but kinda of overpowers everything else. I like the black better, but a black pearl does sound like it would work.

Welcome to the brotherhood of the world's simplest and most honest electric guitar. The world needs more spektrablaue Teilenachläuferen.

Yours will be gorgeous when complete. I agree with others that the blue shell is a little distracting, and the black is a little dull. If you're up for it, perhaps the blue shell would be less overpowering if you trimmed it down like the f-hole tele pickguard. Or maybe you could try silver pearl:

Thanks for all the Input, I asked ppl in my bubble as well and I was especially interested in the opinions of non-musicians, because they are the ones who's attention I'd be wanting on stage. They ALL choose blue shell! :ROFLMAO:

While I was planing the build in my head, I was pretty sure I'd prefer black-white-black and I still like it, but - it's hard to really see that in pictures, but the blue of the blue shell matches the spectra blue quite good!

It kinda gives the impressionen as if the blue parts were actually transparent, or as if body and pickguard were somehow made for each other (which they were...)... I guess what I wanna say is: I was positively surprised by the blue shell pickguard and I like it very much.

I'm gonna go with it, I can still change it if I change my mind.

Thank you very much guys! :giggle:

That is a very odd translation btw. :ROFLMAO: , "Nachläufer" is kind of a literal description of what casters under office chairs do, in that they follow the movement of the chair.

I didn't realise until now, how many meanings the word cast has, because we have different words in german for all of those meanings:😅

I stay with Teilecaster as it's so close to the original name. :giggle:

It's done!
Yesterday I "burnished" the neck, polished the frets, installed the tuners, attached the neck and put some Elixir optiweb 09-46 strings on and - makes sense to do that last I think - installed the string three.

I also weighed the completed guitar, it's final weight is:
3453g which is 7.61 lbs or 7 lbs 9.8 oz

That makes it my lightest electric guitar, although not by much; just a couple grams lighter than my star shaped Kramer (which is either not mahagony or not solid) and about 100g (3,5 oz) lighter than my 7/8 S-Style.

So, today all that was left was setup, neck relieve, intonation, string height, pickup height, etc.

There will still be a few things left to tweak, as always, but I'm happy for now.

And then I plugged her in, and -... Alter Verwalter! I think I get it now! The appeal of the Telecaster, why this guitar has so many fans!

I'm not into country music, which is probably more it's home turf, but for everything else besides hard rock and metal and especially for blues (!) I already love it.

All three pickup positions have a sound of their own, although they're all unmistakably telly sounds, and I can also make good use of the tone pot, which I rarely do on other guitars - I guess the 22nF cap was among the many good choices for this guitar. As was installing the treble bleed! Why did I never do this before?

The Rockinger pickups sound excellent and from a practical standpoint - I know how and what I play - choosing the hotter bridge pu was a good idea, it does have a little more kick in the upper midrange though and I'd be curious how their "standard" Telly Lead (7.7k vs. 8.5k, same wire, same magnets) would have sounded.

And the neck: Seriously, my hand feels like it's hugging a tree! It's massive! I love it! I wanted something very different from my other guitars and this definitely is and it also fits the general vibe of the guitar.

Alles in allem, I think this guitar turned out absolutely great! There's no regret, no buyers remorse at all, only happiness and money well spent! Good choices all the way, I'd make all of them again.

Unfortunately, today, in Berlin the weather is scheiße. So I have to wait before I can make some nice daylight pictures of my wunderschöne Teilecaster. But soon!

And to be clear: Yes, it is SO weird for me, too, randomly throwing in all those german words :ROFLMAO: I keep asking myself if you imagine a german accent (which I don't have... I hope...) when you read this!😅
