Tat Strat

Fair warning: I got pickguard/all #4 screws drilled tonight. I still have wiring left, routing for the 13 pin jack, attaching the neck and nut /setup to go. I might beat you if I get another weekend or two free.

OK it has been 3 months, I want to see finished pictures of this Axe.
I honestly believed it was going be GUITAR OF THE YEAR in 2011
so what is the hold up, we want to see this one finished

The Tat Strat has been a year in the making, gathering dust for the last few months, and I'm dying to get it finished. All I need now is neck screws which I was about to order,  because the local Guitar Center didn't have them and it's a $25 minimum order from Warmoth but now I'm considering adding a new guitar body blank to my order, for my next project. Updates hopefully real soon.  :guitaristgif:

Neck screws? That's the holdup? Go to the hardware store, son!

The holdup was a million other things keeping me busy - I could go to the hardware store and get the same thing but I wanted them in black. Anyway, I'll soon have my black neck screws and a new swamp ash body blank with HSH rout and angled TOM rout. This is what happens when I visit the Warmoth website - I need $5 of parts and end up spending $150.  :toothy11:

I know what you mean. I do the same thing. Also, when I go to the local Italian market. Go for the fresh gnocchi, and $60 later...

Hell, that's nothing.  I go to the Warmoth site just browsing and find a piece of wood I just have to do something with,... BAM, DAMN BAM,..... $2000 later I get a shipping notice!!!  :toothy11:

Come on man, you gotta get this thing done before the tattoo is 4x its original size and fuzzy around the edges.

that's one way to stretch it out for the guitar of the century award - kinda win-win by default when the rest of us are all gacked out in the old folks home by then

2025 - ooh! i put on another screw this year!

2033 - etc.

alright, kid, you win already :blob7:

LOL - I didn't notice this thread was bumped until now

I have the day off from work so I'll take some photos in a little while. There's no strings on it yet and I'm still messing with the wiring but everything else is together.

A friend of mine and wife are both photographers so I was waiting until they could set up my guitar with a backdrop, lighting, etc. But I've been putting it off since the GOM has been delayed.

It's been rainy and cloudy around here for a few days so I can't take the outdoor photos I want to take yet, but here's a few I just did inside with my digital camera.

I just found out last week that I needed a retainer clip installer for the cup jackplate so that's not in these photos.

This next photo is the only one with black knobs just to see how it would look.

What a fantastic result! I would never in a million years think that was a good idea if it was just proposed to me, but that's proof of my idiocy. Fine job, Mr. Patriot. Fine job. You deserve to and should be proud.

What he said.

Thank you. I'm very happy with the results, not only for a unique woodburned finish but not many people have an all-maple guitar. I have a few other guitar projects in the works right now but I'll definitely do another woodburned design, maybe on a bass, tele or jazzmaster.

And thanks to Dangerous for the sweet neckplate!

if this isn't a good enough reason to reopen GOM, i don't know what is...

i have a couple i would like to enter as well...nothing on this level of uniqueness...but still some extraordinary fiddles in their own right...

Patriot
that is amazing. Having watched this project since you started I naturally have enjoyed every post you have made. Thanks for the final pictures. That is one guitar deserving GOTM
