So i'm gonna be going to Nashville Wednesday, staying until Sunday. Any of you guys know about, say, how you get in, exactly? I'm only 16 and have no real ties to manufacturers and things don't look so good for me getting in to just check out the place. Any of you guys know?

Most trade shows will let you in if you pay an entrance fee. Nobody does, of course, because it's easy enough to lie and get tickets in advance for free. The entrance fee is to keep the bag ladies out. They're basically a massive advertising feast for the media, and a clusterphuck for the insiders to check out the competition and network with each other for future career moves. I would guess if you showed up with $15 or so and dressed like something more than a criminal, you'd get in.

So i should leave my gangster pants at home?
Thanks, if that's it i guess it'll be fine, paying a little fee doesn't feel like such a big deal, mainly because...it's NAMM.

Take a camera (a real one, not your cell phone) so you can take pictures of the booth bunnies anything new and exciting.

Hah, booth bunnies. Was planning on sight seeing anyway, so i think i'll bring my better camera, with a few thousand SD cards, unless the TSA plans on saying it's a terrorist device.

Just pack it well and send it through luggage. The TSA is our own version of a terrorist organization who've been known to strip search babies and old ladies with colostomy bags. They're insane. What's worse is they've never caught anybody doing anything while people have still done things. They're up to something like 62,000 employees now costing the taxpayers in excess of $60B/yr to accomplish absolutely nothing beyond making air travel miserable and time-consuming. Now they're talking about expanding their reach to busses and trains. I imagine if The One gets re-elected, being the genius he is he'll expand it to include cars and bicycles. I suppose that's one way to lower the unemployment number - give everybody their own personal security guard, then force you to pay for it by the hour.

Actually if Summer NAMM is anything like Winter NAMM you will not be able to just show up and get in. Security is really tight at Winter NAMM and requires a valid ID along with your badge at every entrance. Even if they are not checking ID's at Summer NAMM you definitly won't be able to just pay $15 and get in. Check Craige's List and there will be no shortage of people saleing there extra badges for employees that might not have made it or for days they are unable to attend. Again I don't know about Summer NAMM but Winter NAMM badges can go for $100 and you may or may not be able to get in. I went to Winter NAMM the first 2 days and gave my badge to a friend the final days and he was able to use it one day but the next day he wasn't just depends who is working the doors. Good luck

NAMM actually has an open to the public day now, July 14th, 10-4, $15 admission.

Here's a link with teh infoz http://www.namm.org/summer/2012/publicday

I'll have to make it to one of them someday.

I wonder if they will do this for the winter NAMM show as well. I always thought it would be in their best interest to do so. By Sunday all the vendors would have had a chance to meet everyone they would need to and made plenty of contacts. Letting the public in on the last day would just be more revinue for NAMM. The vendors might not like it though and of course you have to keep them happy.

Yeah I spotted that, just wanted to be absolutely sure before I went off wasting valuable touristing time trying to get into the door.
