JK. Gorgeous as walnut ever is. I was around in the 70's but sheltered, so walnut doesnt really have any wierd grooviness connection for me.

Thanks All!! I know there are waaay too many laminations, but it tells a story that has been hidden under horrible paint for all these years and it is quite something to see. I'm really pleased how the poly coat turned out... they were practically jumping up and down over at Mike Lulls as such a good result was not expected!

My plan was to go retro with an Explorer style cream pick guard, but now I'm not so sure. There is some nice figuring on that arm...

A word about Seymour Duncan's triple-shot mounting rings. They are made from cheesy plastic and not rigid at all. I thought I was real careful marking out my mounting holes, but somehow one or two were a little off on the bridge PU and the ring went all zig-zaggy after I torqued it down. The mounting ring holes are just big enough for the smallest size screw, so drilling them out to a larger size solved the problem.
