Still searching for that perfect circuit.

I want to set up my guitar so that I can have the neck and bridge pickups eq'd differently, without a bunch of knobs. I have been looking at stereo. But I realized this might be simpler. What if I disconected the tone from the neck pickup, then eq'ed the amp for that pickup. When I switch to the bridge pickup the tone pot works there so I have two pickups that both sound great.
The problem is I can't seem to figure out how to disconect the tone from the neck on a 1v1t 3 -way toggle 2 pickup circuit. Is this possible?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Heft

The Tone control will affect both pickups when switched in the middle position, but will not affect the neck position by itself.

Is that unique to toggle switches, or do lever switches (like the diagram I posted in #5) have that problem too?
A standard 3-way lever switch will have the same problem. There might be other switches, that allow for more complicated wirings, but I am out of my depth there.

Just keep in mind: The middle position is usually a little brighter than each pickup alone, anyway. If the tone pot connects only to the bridge pickup alone position, this might be a bit extreme.

With a 3-way blade switch you have freedom to choose if you want to have the bridge tone control connected in middle position or not. You may need to swap around the input and output lugs on the 3-way blade to achieve it. However I’d rather use the tone control in middle position anyway.

It's not the first time that I've butted heads with the limitations of passive electronics, I own a stacked-knob Jazz bass. Not an original, but a Squire Paranormal.

I think I'll just let the neck pickup share the tone control in the middle position. It'll be less stressful than chasing for a solution that can't be easily done.
