Sticky switch

Hi folks. I got a good price on an old Marshall Shredmaster yesterday, in really good condition except that about ten percent of the time the switch seems to catch after kicking it on so I can't switch it off again without first working it free.

I'm not sure whether there's gunk in there that's causing it to stick or it's a mechanical thing. Any thoughts on how to fix it? My first thought is to use some kind of contact cleaner then follow up with WD40 but I'd rather not destroy my brand new toy by doing something stupid without realising. Thanks.

Not actually having the switch in front of me, my guess is a mechanical problem. A pedal switch is pretty easy, and inexpensive, to replace.
