I've got some mahogany and maple to put together the structure, what I've made first is a battery power supply to let me use pedals without plugging into mains power, at home I'm in a small space, and every wire that has to go to the wall is a hassle, also, it's nice to make the whole rig play nicely with my battery powered amps.
Top view, obv hooks together up to 5x9V, a switch to shut off with an LED to remind me if it's on and last, on the left side, there's a jack to take AC power in when convenient.
Bottom, you'll see the batteries positive terminals connect through Schottky diodes to the output bus, minimizing voltage drop, it costs only about 4% of battery life.
