Start of a pedal board

I've got some mahogany and maple to put together the structure, what I've made first is a battery power supply to let me use pedals without plugging into mains power, at home I'm in a small space, and every wire that has to go to the wall is a hassle, also, it's nice to make the whole rig play nicely with my battery powered amps.

Top view, obv hooks together up to 5x9V, a switch to shut off with an LED to remind me if it's on and last, on the left side, there's a jack to take AC power in when convenient.

Bottom, you'll see the batteries positive terminals connect through Schottky diodes to the output bus, minimizing voltage drop, it costs only about 4% of battery life.

Looks cool.  Does it simultaneously recharge the batteries when running on external power?  And how many mAh is the power supply?

I'm using EBL lithium 9v, they're the same mAh  as alkaline, about 600 mAh. Most of my pedals draw between 20-50 mA, I have an EHX looper that draws ~120 mA. So I can run all 3 for maybe 15 hours on 5 batteries, or two lower draw pedals for the same time on 2.

I don't try to charge them, that would need a separate detection circuit for each battery, also, I want to be able to use alkaline batteries in a pinch. Also, battery chargers are cheap and very effective.

I may yet mod the EHX looper, about 1/2 its current draw is going into driving the 7-segment LED that displays the memory ID.

I got the top board for the pedal  platform glued up this evening, a combination of figured maple and mahogany, should finish up nicely.

First coat of oil & color, and after wiping down.

This is great validation for my plan for the next guitar :)

This looks great.
I hope you colour match the pedals that’ll be going on the board :icon_jokercolor:

Haha, interesting thought, I doubt I'll ever have enough pedals to form a rainbow. The only rainbow pedal I have been interested in was the Fuzz Assumption by Heather Brown Electronicals, and that was a limited edition, very expensive to buy now & I have her Blessed Mother overdrive pedal and it's pretty awesome in it's ecru white case :).

I'm quite happy with the outcome, for now the power board simply sits in a bit of basswood; easy & functional.p I might make something prettier down the line.

It does look great.  Too bad all those boring mayfly pedals are in the way...

Nice self-deprecation there. Still, you're right, kinda flat, right? ;-)
