Squire tele body build.

Thinking about picking up a squire Tele body pretty cheap. I'm assuming (you know what they say about assume, makes an ass of u and me lol) the neck bolt pattern would be the same as a fender and I could use a warmoth neck? Was thinking about stripping it down, upgrading electronics and getting a nice neck. Might might a decent rig. Any thoughts or advice?

Squier "Affinity" series had a thinner body than normal, but generally, Squiers have a standard "fender" neck joint

What is "pretty cheap"? When I think about "stripping it down", I imagine a refinish. Are you talking about just "stripping down" the parts, or doing a refinish? Hmmm ...

Make sure the neck pocket dimensions match the Warmoth standard.

Some of squiers teles don't have a belly cut, also watch out for heavy weight bodies.

Less than $200. With all electrics but I doubt I'd use any of the stock hardware. I really would like to mess around with stripping it and refinishing on something that I'm not afraid to jack up. If it turns out ok I'll grab new hardware and a neck. It says it is fender spec for the neck. If it doesn't work out at least I have a test subject for some finishing practice.
