Kind of cool. Here's a shot of my screen saver which is actual satellite photos of the earth. You can even see hurricanes when they are present.

Here is June 22nd, the day after the summer solstice. South Africa is getting dark and mid Russia is still light:

Here is yesterday, the fall equinox. Shorter days are ahead my friends (except for nonsense who gets to finally start enjoying spring).

Seriously, I thought you had bought a PONTIAC SOLSTICE, or something :icon_scratch:

Ehh...kinda close...I can tell he has a Mac, which I've always considered the Volvo of the computer world. Don't beat me up--its not a dig. Like a Volvo, a Mac is a very well built, very well-running machine, but my viewpoint is the same on them--I know they work, but I just don't know how.

Oh, and nice car, by the way :icon_thumright:

Oh, and PT... What the heck are you doing on you computer at night, when you are newly married, and all? Go get some ice cream, or something :laughing7:

Well, Alienware is the freaking Koeningsegg of computers :laughing8: I don't even like Volvo. They look terrible. I seriously hate seeing them.

Lastly, where do I get the screensavers from? They're awesome :icon_thumright:

It's called Earthdesk and it's tres cool I think. You can view the earth as a globe, as I do, or spread out in all sorts of ways using cartography terminology that I haven't a clue about. I watched the last few hurricanes in the atlantic run their course. You can also change your position on the globe or what time of day you're looking at. I have it set for equitorial sunset and those photos were from 0800 PST so it was sunset around Europe.

I know, I know. My wife is absolutely wonderful but she put away boxes all day yesterday and fell asleep way before me!

thats really cool, but i think i'd spend all my time on the computer watching hurricanes thinking "please don't hit DC..." :icon_biggrin:

If you set it for globe and either equitorial sunset or sunrise you can see the angle, even just 2 days later, has already changed visibly towards the southern hemisphere. I think it is changing at about 8 minutes per day. I also noticied a big arse typhoon in the Pacific ocean heading towards Japan. Doesn't somebody on this forum live in Japan?

Killer pics
and what are you doing up right now, you should be hiding your porn collection from the wife.

Nearly a month later. Southern hemisphere much more sunlight. Equatorial sunset, 10/18: 19:14 PST

Big time lighting and thunderstorm here in Santa Barbara tonight. Very rare for here. Reminds me of tornado time in Arkansas as a kid.

Winter (Northern Hemisphere) solstice 12/21/2010. Sorry to resurrect the old post but had to. 07:30 PST equatorial noon perspective.
