Shoestring Tele

He still hops around and whines when he wants something, but he was jumping on the trampoline this morning, so I'm pretty sure that's all for show.

Oh, man, poor kid.  I hope he heals quickly, but it makes 'em tough.  I used to routinely flay open the front of by big toes when I was his age.  Running without shoes on cement isn't the best thing for your skin lol.  I still remember how uncomfy putting socks and shoes on was while healing.

Re: his short ach. tendons.  I know this is probably a long shot and something that was ruled when you first started your journey into his condition, but have you all had a PT evaluate the ol' soleus/gastocnemius? Maybe they are really tight.

Worst of it was it happened the night before heading to the beach.

It's here! And I held it for pickup so I wouldn't get found out. And my wife's car died so she's got mine and she has to take me to work so we can drop hers off. Snap!

Fixed the wife's car last night - new battery, alternator is fine one the old dead current sucking battery was replaced. Picked it up at lunch to find this:

But it seems to be ok. I have a VIP crew unrelated to my job invading my lab space right now. Will check it out further in a bit.

A little bit of that 7.25" radius fingerboard with SS6230 frets.

My first boatneck. I think I'm gonna like it based on the feel in my hands.

Yeah, those shipper monkeys can screw up a ball bearing. My last neck arrived in a tube that was bent in the middle. No damage there either, though. Hopefully yours is fine.

What really burns me up is the 'no harm no foul' attitude of the UPS. They abused it and got lucky. There was nothing but some low density foam left to protect it once they destroyed the box. But with no actual damage, they don't even feel a twinge of remorse, let alone fix their practices.

Got it home and in the door. Time to start doing some woodworking sooner or later. I think I might be subconsciously trying to wait for the humidity to drop and the weather to cool down mid-late next month. The Warmoth neck is a bit redder than the SX neck. Is there any oil or magic that would allow me to match the tint between the two a little better without just blacking it out? Not looking for Faux Ebony (unless its the only option), but ideally I'd like them to match a bit closer. Maybe I should just get over it.

Yessir. Didn't realize I didn't have the template stack since getting them laser cut up. Tortoise blank is actually same supplier. They're supposed to be identical except for size and handedness, except that his will be an Esquire and set up for slide. My next door neighbor works in a prototype lab, and they just got a water jet. I have an extra control plate, we're going to see how the water jet works for cutting the control plate, making a 2-hole, no switch smaller version of the Tele control plate, rather than chop the Telecaster Bass plate. (Backwards is still the backup plan, if cutting the bigger plate doesn't work.)

Up to 1200 grit on the neck. I thought this was supposed to take hours upon hours and hours. 500 Grit lasted a few minutes. Maybe 20-30 minutes at 1200. I don't have anything higher in the house, but how big a jumps am I taking in grit?

I didnt have anything higher than 1200 in the house except 8 micron (about 2500). I was joking about buttered popcorn (salt would leave grooves) but I realized coconut oil is mild, skin friendly, non gunky and doesnt go rancid like butter. So i broke out the 8 micron and the coconut butter. Good thing this was not a Prince tribute build, but it looks like a semigloss finish now. You could definitely feel a point and spots on the next where it just stopped cutting and started gliding.

Focus isn't the greatest but I got part of it close to in focus. I think we're about there. No finish, just burnished.
