Sarah Ryan inspired Fender XII and Jazz Bass

Mayfly, would you ever consider getting an image of a Mayfly?

You mean the amp?  Nah...  would not look good painted on a guitar

Gentlemen,

Just so we're all clear - Dosh and I will not be using any of Sarah Ryan's design elements on the guitar.  The mock-up showing the yellow sunflower is a Dosh original design (copyright 2010 Dasha Korycan  :icon_biggrin:)

Thanks to everyone for your support as we build this project.

Now!  Let's get'er done!

too bad...

no wonder he made it his mission to badmouth guitar's new paint job; on wikipedia it says he most often preforms with "Creston Electric Instruments." (the company MayFly originally went to for painting the body).

anyway, after one awesome test board and one lame attempt to detail the project, i can't wait to see this thing come together!

Wow, apparently I missed the fight this time.  Yay!  :icon_biggrin:

It looks cool, Trevor.  Your builds are always really fun to watch because they're a little off the beaten path.  I'm sure this one is gonna be killer when it's done.  :eek:ccasion14:

Hey Folks,

here's a couple more concept drawings.  What do you folks think?

That will be very cool.  Not too busy, very much in the style, and it looks well balanced visually from the picture.  Way Cool.

Would she consider doing other work for members?

let's see how it turns out first.  If it works out ok she might.  If it's a disaster she probably won't be interested.  :icon_thumright:

I don't know what shipping to and from Canada would cost, let alone paying her for the work.  That might be something I could source locally.

But I wouldn't doubt the outcome on yours would be anything less than favorable.

For my aesthetic sense, when something looks that much like it should be inlay, but is painted instead, it runs the risk of looking kinda cheap, like someone couldn't afford inlay so they had the same design painted.

If it were me, I'd ask for that painting to be as detailed as humanly possible, and maybe a little bit sparkle-y (or whatever), so that it would be 100% obvious to whomever looked at it that it was, start-to-finish, intended to be a painted design.  I would absolutely not want it to look more like it belonged on the wall of a bedroom (I'm talking about that "custom" sort of design painting that people have done in kitchens and children's bedrooms, if you get my meaning) than on a fine musical instrument.

Very cool!
But not sure about the heart being all filled with color... perhaps just the lines would be cool...

It's a man's (blue, hence cold, feeble, almost bloodless) heart, but inside it, new hope: a woman (a warm red flower).  Now around it grows a garden of blooming life, both his happiness and hers (a single vine sprouting two separate sorts of flowers, some blue, some red).

So the flower probably has to be filled with hue, to symbolize both the struggle and rewards of love...
