I have a gloss finish nec and i want satin for faster playing. iv heard that you can use sandpaper to do this. i'm worried ill wear though the finish. any ideas?

I've used steel wool (#0000 grade) for this purpose.  It works quite well, but over time it gets more glossy again, so be prepared to repeat this every so often.

Be sure to use some type of masking tape to guard areas that you want to stay glossy, and be sure to mask off up the pickup area - the steel bits love magnets.

Check out this thread from the Les Paul forum.  It's pretty sweet.

Hmmm, isn't it a bit risky? I mean, could a neck more exposed to humidity if i do that, and warp somehow?

What's being suggested is dulling the finish - not removing it. If you remove the finish - yes, it could warp.

But if i only take out the gloss, it's safe? :D

It's very very very important thing for me because two hours ago i thought: "what the hell" and I've sanded the neck of my Blade...

And now its incredibly sexy!! :D <But i am incredibly frightened! :D I love her like my own girlfriend :D>

Also, i've noticed that neck becomes the more sticky i play :) Is it normal? Should i sand it more? (I've sanded it only couple of minutes with 1000 grid wet sanding paper)

Is that a Dean Blade?  If so, your arm will fall off before you seriously hurt an imported poly finish with 1000 grit.  Oh yeah, they scratch and chip easily enough.  Sanding through that kind of finish is amazingly hard to do.

Go back over it with 0000 steel wool, with the pickups taped off as previously mentioned.

Nope, it's Blade Durango Deluxe, sth like that -> http://www.commsandsound.com/blade_guitars/blade_durango_deluxe_dd2_guitar.html :)

Hmm, I'll probably try steel wool if u say so :)
