Question for the metal decal guys

Hello all,

In keeping with my goal of never applying and finishing another waterslide headstock decal ever again, ever, I'm planning to send my design over to the folks at Morning Print, who made the metal Warmoth decals Mr. Pinter was distributing a while back. For those of you who got them and applied them, how have they held up?

Thanks,

VB

Well, admittedly "never ever" is big words. It's like this. Generally I follow a pretty predictable curve when it comes to learning a new skill, but that hasn't proven to be the case with shooting finish over decals. I treat it meticulously, allocating several weeks to the process, following a consistent procedure, but each is not necessarily better than the last. There are variables that my trial-and-error hasn't figured out how to control yet. And practicing on Warmoth necks is... nerve wracking. The last time around I did two simultaneously and one was perfect while the other resulted in actually sanding through the clear and into the decal. Which sucked. So, I think I'm doing things consistently but clearly that isn't the case. At the end of the day I think I'm at a limitation of what I can do without some "formal" instruction in the art and/or some equipment that is better than a rattle can in the back yard. I still want something on the headstock because it pleases me aesthetically, so for now I'm looking for alternatives.
