I've got a set of motherbuckers for one guitar I'm going to build, but I seriously need a second set for a second guitar which is coming my way. which option would you guys do?
1: another set of Motherbuckers, but now the 'cool' version, cause they have more bite and grind, and a bit less output.
2: sticking with my own design, tweaked a bit with different wire (tonefordays)
3: a whole new design by Jon: neodymium magnets (yeah, he's got a couple of those!) with a nice coilwind.
4: set of q-tuners.
this is in accending order of price. the 3 MB's are 150 euro's, 3 qtuners are for me in total 300 euro's. I 'need' 3 qtuners, not 2, cause 2 qtuners + 1 regular looks weird, and I don't want to use the black or white epoxy: I find that fugly :laughing7:
I've been wanting those pickups for ages, and I keep on hearing only great reviews about them, but the price is so damn steep...on one hand, I seriously want them, but on the other I keep thinking: 300 euros! Motherbuckers are very, very good, (much more versatile), and MUCH cheaper than the q-tuners. The thing with those qtuners is that I read that they're so super-hifi, but when I listen to them online, I'm not to psyched about them; they're cool, but not SUPERhuge!
I've been thinking of having 3 singlecoil sized qtuners with a regular s.c. humbucker, like the hotrail, but thats ridiculous and too expensive in the long run!
the 30 day return guarrantee doesn't satisfy me alot, I have to admit.
Yet... they do have a 'groovy' look to them, but in a walnut guitar, it might look just a bit off, where 3 regular motherbuckers with gold covers will look much more 'normal'.
input?
