Pro Contour Heel In Progress...with Completed Build Link...

Since Fender Contour Heel bodies are somewhat expensive and only available with humbucker and tremolo routs I used a standard 4 Bolt Warmoth Hardtail Body and added a Fender Style Contour Heel with the help of a ProAttach II Kit. Without a ProAttach II Kit it is nearly impossible to attach/screw a Pro Construction/Modern Neck to a Fender Contour Heel Body. Note the Warmoth "Area Of Incompatibility" photo below.
The Contour Heel Project began with a very nice Warmoth 4 lb. 5 oz. Ash Hardtail Body and a beautiful Pro Construction Quartersawn Goncalo-Ebony Neck, SRV profile, SS 6105 frets...

He's attaching to the metal plate at a shallow depth instead of a wood screw that would hit the side adjust. Nice job!

I'm just going to wimp out and use a vintage modern neck when I make my Deluxe Strat.

Yes they do which moves the forward disc mounting screw closer to the standard upper neck mounting location, helps with sharing the load/string pull a bit better. Thanks to all for your replies.

Update: Now Painting, 2-3 weeks and on to Completed Strats.

Since Fender contour heel bodies are somewhat expensive and only available with humbucker routs I opted to convert a standard Warmoth body to a Fender style contour heel. Best of all the conversion uses a Pro Construction neck with the help of a ProAttach II Kit.

Project begins with a very nice Warmoth 4 lb. 5 oz. Ash hardtail body and a beautiful Pro Construction quartersawn Goncalo-Ebony neck, SRV profile, SS 6105 frets...

1) Initial contour heel layout.

2) Installing glued spruce dowel short of pocket surface.

3) Hand finished contour heel.

4) Checking insert screw protrusion and preparing to trace outline of ProAttach II disc.


5) Below plunge drilling shallow holes for recess followed by detail cleanup with a sharp chisel.

6) ProAttach disc in recess below pocket surface.

7) Inserts installed and ProAttach II disc mounted on heel using two #8-3/4" T-316 wood screws.

8) Rock solid mounting…

Build Update Photos Below...Assembled in tweaking stage, a few high frets found and seated, frets ends dressed, board properly rolled, setup plays beyond very well. SRV profile, Goncalo/Ebony was the right showcase choice and recommended. Bridge pickup missing and on order...Dark spot on contour heel is spruce dowel.
