Post what you're listening to!

Listening to Little Feat on my iPod the other night (how old-skool am I? Don't have a 'smart' phone or Spotify, whatever that is...;-)) I realised how much I have loved Lowell George for over 40 years - still find his singing and playing inspirational and it never gets old.

If you haven't heard the live album "Waiting For Columbus" you need to correct this deficit in your life, not only for Lowell's undeniable gifts, but just listen to the amazing drummer Richie Hayward - of course the whole band are at their peak.

Trawling Youtube I found this sound check performance from the 70s which gives a taste for those unfamiliar with the band :

Lowell was only 34 when he died. Such a shame...

Lowell George was a force of nature.  One of the great slide players.  Great singer, as well.  I'll see your "Rock and Roll Doctor" and raise you a "Dixie Chicken."

"Then one day in the lobby of the Commodore Hotel
I chanced to meet a bartender who said he knew her well
And as he handed me a beer, he began to hum a song
And all the boys there at the bar began to sing along..."

So I'm not listening to this per-se, but I am reading it:

I was never a huge Maiden fan (was more into Motorhead back in the day if you must know), but I gotta say this is an awesome read.  I'm really enjoying it.  :headbang:

I thought some of you folks might enjoy this...

I think the lyrics could use some tweaking, but in terms of the melody and the chords, this song rocking my world so hard right now!  :blob7: :turtle: :blob7: :headbang: :headbanging:  :headbang5

The Paramore song was a refreshing change.
I've been trying to get into newer bands and found a few good ones. this one has had my attention in my commutes

Alright, I got another one.
Here's a song that lights my fire (especially with recent personal events in my life and another female giving me the cold shoulder/stonewall Jackson. "Standing like a stoooooone wallllll"

This song "Hard On Me" Was written by an amateur musician, but a professional listener, Mr. Nathaniel Kinsey. What I mean, is that this dude works at a record store (one of the last remaining few) and just about actively listens to albums all day at his work (It's not always crowded, and active cause he gets to pick what the store listens to).

Also, he lives in Amish country, yet he wears his hair like a rocker from the 80's. Just magnificent, you can't make this stuff up. Without further ado...

Seriously, I love those climbing pentatonic hemiolas. If anyone has an tunes with similar style/pieces/licks fire away please.

Dusty Cat, the video you posted is not available for viewing.

No video to Nobody's Hero...

Julian Lage has a new album coming out on Groundhog Day, which he is teasing with this YouTube video.  Lots o' fun!

Greg Koch turns in a scorching rendition of "Little Wing" with the Koch-Marshall Trio.  Folks, you know GK for his puckish wit and ridiculous skills coupled with relentless clowning around on the guitar.  Here he plays it straight, and burns the place to the ground.

This band has really changed direction since their tech-death days, and this release has been quite polarizing for their fan-base. Quite frankly I like all of their albums for different reasons, but I prefer their new sound to Exoplanet and Intrinsic.

Thanks for this.  It's sent me down the rabbit hole of 1970's and 1980's Rush output, music I haven't listened to much of for quite some time.

In other news, I read last night that Rush is officially no more - with Neil Peart's retirement in 2016, it seemed inevitable, but the plug has officially been pulled.
