Post what you're listening to!

Anyone ever listened to Japanese Power Metal? This is probably my favourite Power Metal album of the year...

Interesting (mostly) instrumental "Enter Sandman" by John 5

Followed by an instrumental of Michael Jackson's "Beat It", if you're interested.

The singer in the Jeff Beck, video Rosie Bones. Yes I think it might be.

I must say, I find John 5 a much more interesting guitar player than Kirk Hammett.  Even so, I still hold that you should have to undergo a background check and pass a test before they let you have a wah pedal. John 5 seems to have somewhat of a clue, but Hammett - Nopety nope.

YMMV, opinions are those of the author only, etc., etc., ad nauseam ad infinitum.

They can be tricky little rascals, and for as simple as they are, they all sound different. Even someone who uses one well can be thwarted just by making him use something other than what he's used to.

One band that I listen to, Throes of Dawn, incorporate the Wah pedal really well into their solos. The solo for this song starts around 4:55, and goes for like 3 minutes.

A little Gov't Mule show.  HQ recording means I can enjoy it without being distracted by audio artifacts.

He's remarkably tight with his drummer. I'll bet they both own metronomes (and use them).

This was an absolute joy to watch and listen to.
Some amazing music being created here.

Cool.

When I first heard it I immediately started to think about Rainbow and their Kill the King:

Here is another track from Opeth, that reminds me of Rainbow...

Now did Keldian, get the idea from Opeth or Rainbow?

Very cool. I realise have to listen to Opeth and a bunch of other bands that have completely passed me by during my "non-playing-days".
I have a lot of catching up to do.

Oh wow. I've never really listened to rainbow before and it sounds a lot like Keldian.

Listen to the newer Opeth, especially Pale Communion, if you don't like Death Metal. If you don't mind it, definitely listen to their older stuff.

Good choices, Stratamania.

As a side note - my first ever concert I saw, was Rainbow in Copenhagen back in -76. Magical!

Thanks, there are so many to choose from. I have seen Deep Purple, more times than I can remember and Blackmore's Night but for whatever reason, I never got to see Rainbow.

A shame. Then you missed Blackmore with Cozy Powell and Ronnie James Dio. For me, that's when RB was at his best.

I've also seen Deep Purple, but only once if I remember correctly. Back in the (late?) 80's. But on the other hand I've seen Rainbow many times.
