Pine bodies

If I recall a couple of years back there were some sugar pine bodies available in the showcase. So there are from time to time different woods that become available as limited runs etc.

Warmoth did offer pine bodies for a while. IIRC, the problem was that the pine is full of sap, and it clogged up the CNC machines, so they decided to call it good. I've seen Fender (I think) use roasted pine, so I'd be curious to see how that would work out.

I saw some pine bodies made with reclaimed strips about 1" wide glued together. Will there be issues, and what's a good way to finish it? I am thinking stain then oil.

Thanks for sharing, Spud. Do you think having about a dozen glue layers would affect the tone?

Pine can be very blotchy with stain. You'll probably want to use a seal coat of some kind. And as always, it's good to test on scrap first.
