Hello guys,I am new to this forum and wanted to ask a question about my recent order to Warmoth.I  recently placed an order for a mahogany strat body, birdseye maple neck, and a set of Rio Grande pickups and was given a total over the phone, but they have yet to charge my card...Is this normal and will they wait till the parts are ready to ship to charge me?Also,I hate the fact that they dont give you any kind of confirmation, whether it be through email or a mailed receipt upon placing your order. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.I am just a little confused.

You can ask them to email you an order confirmation... it lists all the specs of your order and the prices.  I felt alot better once I got mine and I knew the order was exact.

I did'nt get charged until the parts were ready for shipping.
I did get a e-mail confirmation of order, but then I had quite a long e-mail conversation with Spike to make sure my 'custom' paint job was right.

Good luck, and have fun

To best of my knowledge there is never an email confirmation of an order UNLESS you are custom ordering something that cannot be returned without a re-stocking fee.

Your credit card never gets charged until the order ships.

Thanks,I finally got someone there to email me a specs sheet.I am sure everything will be fine, but the fact that they dont charge your account right away can sometimes be a good thing, and sometimes be a bad thing.I am the type of person that when I buy something,I want them to take it out of my account right away.I dont want to have to worry about keeping my money there until i dont know when.Anyway, just venting I guess.Other than that I cant wait to get the stuff.

You can always ask your sales rep to have the order pre-charged.  No problems there.

As far as confirmations go on phone orders, the entirety of the order is read back on the phone.  Since the order is released to production once the call is complete, it is very important to make sure the readback is correct.  Very complex, expensive or highly custom orders receive an order acknowledgement.  However, these are done manually and can delay the processing of the order by several days to a week.

In the future you will receive an automatic email confirmation.  However, it is still very important to stress that your order goes to production as soon as the call ends.  The gears start turning.  It is best for everyone (Warmoth & the customer) that the order be correct before those wheels start turning.  If you want everything in writing before those wheels start turning, emailing or faxing your order in is the best option.

I think what we're saying is.......Chill bro...You'll be good.

Just sit back, relax and enjoy the agonising wait until your kit arrives.  Then be prepared to splash the cash on another one, and another one, and another one, and another one, and another one, and another one, and another one, and another one.....etc

Oh......and welcome.

Yeah I hear ya guys. Thanks again for the info.I have been wanting to do this for a looongg time and finally pulled the plug on it.I sold a Les Paul to finance this little experiment and was just concerned. The day the thing is built and I hit that first chord through my Splawn Nitro will be a happy day to say the least...

You have to learn to cherish the anticipation. It's part of the process, it's a bit like when your wife is giving birth. Fortunately, my wife is smarter than me so I have just one son versus two Warmoths with more planned...

Dangerous.  A rule of business I've picked up over the years.....

Shooting your best customers typically is'nt good for returning trade....
