Old warmoths and battle scars

So, i was admiring my warmoth, hanging on the wall the other day. i built it about a year ago now, and i've just started to notice how nicely it's aging.
its a black korina chambered tele body that i finished with danish oil. the flame in the korina seems more elegant now that the oil has really soaked into the wood. the wood has dried out a bit too, and has little interesting grain patterns where the grain is seperating slightly. where my arm rests on the forearm contour the finish is like a mirror (danish oil is usually kind of matte finish) from my sweat/arm rubbing against it all the time. i play it every single day, and still love everything about it.

now, i designed it as a player, not a showpiece (only really "looky" things i payed extra for where f-hole, flame bk korina top, and inlays), but i can definitely say it's the sexiest axe by FAR in my collection. i can't believe how elegantly it had aged, i can't even imagine how sexy it will look in ten years. i even love the flaws: dings in the wenge headstock from me falling into a drumkit ( :tard:). belt-buckle scuffs on the back. holes where the straplocks were re-located. an empty hole on the control plate. a nice scratch across the f-hole. the pw tuner that has been replaced by a regular gotoh rotomatic after i stripped the locking mechanism. the slight rustiness and string scratches building up on the bridge JB pickup.

just wondering if anyone out there is still desperately in love with their warmoth, and if they have any battle wounds that just make it "yours". for some reason i don't like "untouched" guitars. i love how much character knocks and dings and customised configs give an axe.

I'd love to see some pics.

ya know, i should post some pics of my build when it was first completed and shots now after a year. i think only i would really notice the difference. it just looks so much more "natural" now

My rosewood strat neck has a big chunk out of the headstock where I hit a cymbal with it.  (By accident.)

Sadly, I haven't had my W for long enough to earn any real battle wounds - only about 2 years, and I don't play out. But I do look forward to my guitar aging with me - we will both fall apart eventually  :toothy10:

I thought that was what it was for!  The pointy ones might dent the cymbal.  :laughing7:

I haven't gigged with another bass since getting my Warmoth last summer.  Luckily, no drops or real scratches yet.  The neck and body are both Satin and Matte finishes.  The back of the neck is now glossy in areas and wearing through in one area from my thumb where it gets more play, as well as the forearm contour.  The black scews that mount the battery box have worn the black finish off.  I wouldn't change a thing about it.

battlescars on my first and second warmoth are obvious. dings and nicks in the finish, broken pickuprings and toggles, worn out pots, bumps in the finish where the trem used to bang the body, and internally, they've all suffered. cut out some millimeters of wood so the trem would have the maximum range which was physically possible.

my third and most beloved guitar has the most scars... chopped up and cut up headstock (to make it look nice, and it looks nicer every time I work it). the gold plating is starting to come off, the pickups have been wrecked. its got some great dings due to my treasured screwdriver, and now its got even a tremolo installed! but she sounds and plays like a BEAST! now i have to play her alot so the strings will become 'old' again...I hate new strings.

I foolishly sold my warmoth strat years ago.  I can only hope it is being played and looks old.
