This really turned out to be a great build...
I was not diggin' the color of the top when I was first watching your progress.
However, I must say that the final product is really nothing less than fantastic...
I am lovin' it in every way.  :headbang1:
Hardtail, purpleheart neck, flamin' maple top; how can you not love it.
:kewlpics: :rock-on:

i didn't read through the whole thread, what is the body wood? that choice of dye for the top is bold with purple but not much purple is seen from the top and i like it. i have a purple heart neck on my tele that has a black korina body and koa top. i think it looks great with the natural finish and from the back your strat is stunning! i love it. and the tone is very nice mine has a certain sweetness to it that is pleasing. i was iffy because it is not a popular choice or as popular as wence or canary as far as exotics go but i like how it turned out and i like how yours turned out. great build

Thanks for all the positive feedback.

Personally, I think the color works with the neck; there was a lot of hemming and hawing.
It's actually a mix of Aniline blue and MEK blue, on top of Aniline black.
I must have redone the top 4 times to get it to where I was content.
I think the satin works out nice with the unfinished neck too.

I really like the wenge/purpleheart neck combo.
You don't often see a wenge fingerboard, but I give it a big thumbs up.

Acoustically, the guitar sounds more like a Les Paul than a Strat.
Hard to describe, but bright.

The JB in the bridge really has some "balls", for lack of a better word.
It's raunchy and unapologetic.  The '59 is "sweet", the JB is "nasty".
It's a good mix.

I have the middle pickup set to go out of phase with a push-pull on the tone knob.
That's really a thin sound.  Brian May Schmian May...

I think I'll scrap that and use the push-pull for a series-parallel on the '59.
