Manhattan's Upper West Side, home to just about everyone in the world with more money than sense.

Well, got the neck joint sorted out over the weekend.
DinkyHeel.jpg

Just added some recessed ferrules and a set of stainless inserts.
Only had to relocate one hole on this guy.

Think I've decided on the color.
Finally finished a kitchen remodel, so hopefully things will move faster now.

Looks cool, but why the inserts instead of a plate? :icon_scratch:

I mean it looks sweet, but just curious...

Where'd the body come from, it's not a Warmoth... :dontknow:

Really the ferrules are a preference thing.  You can really round off the heel as well.
Feels good in the hand, just a personal touch I like to do.
I got the time...LOL

The inserts add girth to the screws, and let you torque the neck on good and tight.

The body is from the other guys in Puyallup.  It was on their website for cheap because of a return.

this is cool and would look killer with that neck...

That's pretty much what I had decided on.
I was going to try to make the blue a bit more teal like how the MEK board turned out.
I'll probably use MEK diluted in lacquer, just with the black accent.
Clear back with black grainfiller, natural mask binding.
That's the plan...

Thats it.... I'm done adjusting the colors on my monitor... this thread has me half blind!~  :laughing8:

So I got to doing another testboard, this time using aniline dyes.
I'm not anti-MEK, I just had these around and have never tried them.

:o Anybody else see a face in the middle here?

Finally got to make some progress.
Here's what I ended up with on the top:

I have a few washcoats here with about 2-3 applications of black grainfiller.
I'm going to sand it back, hit it with a clear filler, then clearcoat.

nice work...I realy like the back too....not your traditional looking mahogany.

Thanks, that's a black analine dye, sanded back, MEK blue mixed in lacquer, sanded back, and clear.

I agree with the purple dye vote and natural clear coat on the back would look awesome
Then build one.
:)

Finally finished over the holiday.

Went with a satin finish using McFadden niro and their flattening paste.
1 to 3 paste to lacquer ratio.

I sanded to about 1,000 grit, then buffed with steel wool.

I filled the pores with McFadden oil base filler mixed with black pigment for color.
Then Z-Poxy, which if scraped smooth, ends up being real thin and makes a great base.

I'm really enjoying the end results of this build.

The pickups are the Duncan "Everything Axe" setup which is pretty versatile.
