If I have questions about building my guitar, should I put them here, or start a new thread in the "In Progress" section? I'm new to this process, and am going to have a ton of questions. I want to make sure this one comes out great!

There are folders with general categories such as DIY Finishing, Hardware, Pickups, Wiring and Electronics, etc. where you might want to put questions appropriate to that category. Makes it a little easier on everybody, and helps yourself a bit, too, as there are some people who only hang out in certain areas, or ignore certain areas as uninteresting.
Wow. I didn't know it would be that light!! Here are some more pictures. I'll try to resize them. I'm still not sure how to do that though. Aren't I supposed to put something on the neck in order to get the flame to pop more? I plan on putting Guitar Reranch Fender amber on it, and then finishing it in a thin coat of nitrocellulose. Does this sound like a good idea?
That's a great idea and how I finish most of my necks. You're going to need to do 6-8 light coats of nitro; less than that and you risk going through the finish when leveling/polishing.
That's some great looking wood!
Idea: What I'd do with that is fill the body grain with black filler and shoot that with the Fender Neck Amber and clear gloss nitro top coats. All Black hardware/pickguard/pickups/knobs/etc.; let the wood do the talking...
What kind of music do you play? I've used all the different Fender Custom Shop sets; the '69's are OK but I prefer the Fat 50's or Texas Special sets. They're all good value for the $$$, but the bridge pickup in the '69 set is lamer than the others referenced.
