Has anyone noticed that Warmoth have started using a different technique for the showcase pictures - on some models at least?

Less glare/reflection means you see more of the grain and/or figure but also looks a little 'flat'. Thoughts?

Hmm... I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. But, even the off-axis shots look flat. This is the first one above...

Just looks like one is a glossy finish and one is a matte finish to me.... :icon_scratch:
It does look like that, but they're normal finishes. I'm sure it's effectively as Mayfly says - softer lighting - and possibly the use of a polarising filter(?)

My question really is, do they look better? (Or from W's point of view, will they sell better?)

Tough call. They charge quite a premium for carved tops so you'd think they'd want it to be obvious that's what they are.

agreed, with it being a carved top, one would tend to think that getting the high lites just right would be paramount...

I've seen that kind of variation before - some being much glossier looking than others. It's hard to say from just a few shots.

This looks like a job for: PHOTOGUY!

....er, is the job of Photoguy.  :icon_jokercolor:

I bet he could tell us if there's been a change.
